I love heated gear.
I want to start and say that heated gear, to me, is a game changer for the year round rider. No longer do I feel like the giant Pillsbury Doughgirl and I have done 28 degrees just fine.I came to this from the Firstgear Dual Portable heat troller.Use:Red Channel is Jacket, Yellow is Glove Liners. Bike is Ninja 650 with a touring screen. Lowest temperature: 24 degrees (using dual portable, though this seems to have equal power).Honestly, I don't think there are any good ways to get power from the bike to you, especially when you want to control that power.I realize now that the portable one was probably meant to put in your pocket, too, but I had it magnetically connected to the frame near the handlebar mount of my Ninja 650 and could see the light/temp setting and have a stable and easy reach controller just below the top fairing. I like that one but for the two cables coming from the front of the bike that were "delicate".This one is nice, only one cable to connect and it now comes from under the seat so I don't have to worry about yanking anything important as I have it "tied" to the seat mount. The lights DO NOT blink the temp, they seem pretty pointless as they only light to show input is received, which I guess means I no longer feel the need to put it where I can see if while on the bike (I use the Firstgear Dual Pouch on my left breast pocket and have put a review on the corresponding page). I think it will take some getting used too, I can reach it, but it is nowhere near as "stable" as I had it before, so it takes a lot more thought to change the temps while riding. It uses AAA batteries and the back plate screws on. I've only used it once and I am a year round rider and commuter in all but ice and snow, so I'll try to remember to report back when I have to replace the batteries. It is supposed to blink a warning, but since it is in a place I cannot see, I have a feeling it will die while I am well away from 2AAAs and a PH1 screwdriver.

My firstgear heated vest and gloves work great and I installed this heat troller in hopes to offer more detailed control for heat. No matter what setting I have this on, the vests are just on. This has offered no level adjustment what-so-ever, and I installed this in the dash of a trike which makes it a fair job to remove it, so I just installed a new on/off switch that turns the vests on or off. Extremely disappointed with this "heat troller" product.

Disappointing inconsistent operation
I like the convenience but the unit acted very intermittently yesterday on our annual New Year's day ride. Admittedly, it was very cold - under 10 degrees F. That is when it is really needed to work well but did not. Disappointing! Added note: Put in new batteries and synced up with new First Gear jacket. Although a 90W jacket, it is drawing only 67watts. I'm going to hook the jacket up directly, bypassing the controller and see how many watts it draws. Either the controller or jacket is defective but too late for me to return it.

Great addition to the vest, highly recommended.
Very handy to be able to mount controller in a good spot on the bike. Much more convenient than having to route controller somewhere in the power cable to vest and likely to be safer to use as well. Highly recommended!
