Q: Does this PLAY blu ray? I just finished a build on my new computer and added this drive. It will play standard DVDs but not blu rays. Any suggestions?

Yes,I can solve this problem right now.You need the Cyberlink media suite 14 ultra,also make sure your video graphics card is hdcp compliant.Even thought you just built this system,for a full funtion burner that will play and burn anything I recommend you replace this with any popular LG 16X BLU-RAY burner or Pioneer BDR2209.

This device (model BC-12B1ST) cannot write to Blu-Ray, but it can write to the various DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW formats. The BW-12B1ST (note the second character is the model name is "W" vs. "C") is Asus' equivalent Blu-Ray writer. I have one of each, and am very satisfied with them both.

Q: Does drive come with cables? I just received mine and it is just the drive itself with one disc in a plastic bag. :(

no the drive does not come with anything but the disk. that is why it is so inexpensive. it wont play Blue rays either. you need to buy software for that too :(

Has anyone seen this or other blu-ray drive stop reading dvd's & cd's but not blu-ray? i guess it is possible since it uses the 2 different lenses.
