Frontier Natural Products Fenugreek Seed, Og, Ground, 2.00-Ounce

I have a Chicken Biryani recipe I learned to make in Africa and it calls for 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek. Of course it is impossible to find in a store near me and ordering at amazon is so convenient. With Prime it arrived in a day! So I made the biryani and it was delicious.I'd say this spice balances out other flavors and can be combined with many other spices in Indian food. If you taste it straight from the jar it is bitter and creamy. But in a recipe it adds just the right flavor elements. I look forward to finding other recipes using this spice.~The Rebecca Review

I can't make my simple curry without it. Beyond turmeric, ginger & garlic, coriander, fennel, mustard, black pepper, and of course tomatoes, fenugreek gives it the flavor I love.There are so many positives to this herb, it's difficult to overstate:It increases testosterone as an "aromatase" inhibitor. Aromatase turns testosterone into estrogen, so blocking it causes more T. But estrogen can't pass the blood-brain barrier in people, and so must be made there by aromatase. For both sexes, arousal is dependent on this estrogen flush, yet fenugreek increases libido in women as well as men. However, the three herbs above--ginger, fennel, and garlic--are at some point inhibitors of T, so while giving your system a needed workout, it's not excessive, and the combination may be helpful for estrogen dominance, PCOS, and excessive T.Fenugreek is an age-old "galactagogue", meaning that it increases milk production as a promoter of prolactin, yet in one case decreased the amount. There's some report that it may increase breast size.It's anti-cancer, specifically breast cancer in a dose-dependent manner.It may increase insulin production, a negative for up-and-down diabetics, but one study showed it increased insulin sensitivity. We now know early childhood sugar use will cause early adulthood insensitivity, so it would be a positive in battling that, particularly considering the effects of common imbalancing chemicals.And it's used as a paste to stimulate new hair growth after inhibiting DHT, the strong testosterone that promotes male-pattern baldness, for which "natural" products such as reishi mushrooms and green tea extract act as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors.But it may be said that while every herb has something good for somebody, every herb may have something bad, too. Some people may have an allergic reaction, and a reviewer here had it. Some mothers may not wish to use it while pregnant or breastfeeding, particularly if they've surpassed subclinical PCOS to become pregnant. I have my own battle with excessive T, but occasional use is fine--and delicious!This is a great organic product (OG). I couldn't get better flavor out of otc supplements, so I'd have to grow it and grind it myself to get better. The main point: Know yourself, do the research, don't be excessive, and consult your doctor.Then enjoy!

I was hoping for a sweeter, kind of like cinnamon taste but its actually bitter. I will try to use it more. I bought it because it was supposedly good for your health.
