2014 album from the English musician, songwriter and producer based in Vienna, Austria. Informed by a rich legacy of electronic music, Sohn creates a sound that blends his haunting vocals with a backdrop of analogue drum machines and synths, which makes nods to the past, but always forges forward into the new. Aside from emphasizing the soulfulness of his voice, his lyrics expertly play with the phonetics of language, wrapping his sonorous vocals around the gaps between sentences and lending those words more prominence. TREMORS is Sohn's debut album.

Dark, soul-baring vocals / electronic masterpiece
I discovered SOHN on an electronic music satellite radio station and was instantly mesmerized. The music totally embodies the existential angst we all experience right now for so many reasons beyond our personal and collective control even though it is more specifically about the emotional turbulence of a relationship's ebb & flow. The vocals pair masterfully with the powerful idiosyncratic electronic orchestrations producing avery original and moody masterpiece you'll come back to again and again!

OUTSTANDING
I'm always looking for new, quality music. I'm a sucker for good electronica and a vulnerable voice full of emotion. Thom Yorke is one of my all-time faves. SOHN is the single best new artist I've encountered in a long time. Great production, beautiful voice. GET THIS ALBUM. You won't be disappointed.****EDIT TO REVIEW AFTER LISTENING FOR A FEW DAYS****I want to say a couple more things about this release. I notice on Amazon that many, many albums get 5 stars. The thing is this: I've purchased many with 5 star ratings and more often than not, there are only a couple of really strong tracks (if that) amidst 8 - 12. Lots of mediocre music gets amazing reviews. I don't review very often but I couldn't be quiet about this one. This is not your average release. Pretty much EVERY song on here is excellent. It's cohesive, incredibly well-produced and full of heart. I'm picky as hell about music and this is one of the few albums I've ever heard that is amazing from start to finish. Don't take the review below too seriously regarding Sohn's previous releases being superior. I've listened to his previous stuff under his former name : Toph Taylor. This album is the culmination of his talents and his older stuff reads as though he was still trying to find his sound. Decent but not nearly what he has done here. He's found his sound on Tremors and it's breathtaking. Check it.

Very eclectic, different and pleasant
I fell in love with the song "Artifice" On the the strength of that first song - and its accompanying video - I decided to purchase SOHN's album, "Tremors." Although it's a good album, overall, "Artifice" ends up being the best song on the album. I was hoping to find another gem in Tremors, as good or better than Artifice, but it didn't happen. There are other good songs, just not as good. And, the album doesn't really start to get redeemingly istenable until Artifice, which is the third track. This is why I give it three stars. However, SOHN is a very talented man, the album is very plesant to listen to and puts you in a nice, introspective mood. I love that, although reminiscent of late 90's electronica, it still sounds very different than what we hear today. "Bloodflows" is a great, trippy track that gets stuck in your head. "Lights" manages to sound like modern, electronic, African tribal music, and I like it very much. And, the title track, "Tremors" is another good, introspective song with layers of trippy sounds and a, surprisingly, good hook to it: "If you're thinking of letting me go than it's time that you doooooo." Again, although good tracks, they - and the rest of the album - fail to reach the greatness of Artifice. But, that's, at least, 4 really good tracks on the album, which, to me, means it's a safe, and good purchase. Enjoy!

Semi-Disparate Elements Culminate in an Interesting Finish
One of those albums that gets better the more you listen to it. Complex, but very interesting, vocal lines are tough to soak in on the first listen, but do come through enough to provoke interest for further listening. The beats are pretty unique, backed with solid melodies, which make for some really great outro jams. Bloodflows is a fairly good preview track if you are unsure. The track starts with some mellow R&B esque vocals, which turns some people off initially, but I would recommend listening to the whole track because SOHNs strength lies in a sort of "build-up" of semi-disparate elements that usually culminate in an interesting finish.

amazing...
I can't remember every writing a review for an album before because, like most have said, you usually get one or two good tracks out of 8-12 that are usually on an album. But that's not the case here. It is rare to find an album where you like every single song. I mean really rare or at least to me it is. This is great electronic music layered with a beautiful voice and amazing lyrics. I'm blown away by it, to be honest. And, if he produced it himself like some of the other posts have mentioned, then I'm even more impressed. The entire album will be on repeat for the next few weeks or months for sure. Wow...

White powder! White powder!
All of the important lessons necessary to run a multinational fortune 500 company are present in the running of the roadside fruit stand. I'm sorry you spent your time pursuing a degree in semiotics and anthropology, but frankly we need more go-getters in the corporate world, so just like that guy said in The famous movie Hoobastank Redemption, "get busy dying or keep on trying".

Definitely worth a listen, even if you've never heard of Sohn before
Sick album. Packaging is gorgeous. Highly recommend it. Sohn produced a couple of tracks for Banks (the best ones) which is how I ended up discovering him. Sohn is Christopher Taylor's stage name. His album is basically his voice, which is beautiful and hypnotic, layered with well-crafted synths, and backed by an actual percussion kit. Definitely not edm by any means. The entire album is super melodic, and mesmeric. Highly recommend it, there's not much else like this out there.

THE BEST NEW ARTIST OF 2015
SOHN IS AMAZING! He will be the next big thing very soon. Tremors is one of the greatest albums I have heard in years. He is consistent in his mood of the album, the lyrics perfectly match his melodies and the music. I loved this album so much, I looked up when I could see him play next to find out he was in my city TWO days prior to me looking it up. He is from Austria, yet you wouldn't think it with how beautiful his voice is.

One of my albums of the year
Very easy to recommend in any format. One of the best albums I have bought this year. Hard to classify but sounds like you have heard it before (in a good way) while still being innovative and compelling. Bought it for other people too and they agree. if you're wavering, give it a go!

Different
Bought this after hearing a track from it after a TV drama. Tremors is probably the best track and some of it is a little too "electrical" for me. However, it is different and I like his voice.

First album of the year
Loved their track - wheels - last year, suspected that this might be a one hit album.. far from it. Beautiful songs, immaculate production. Still listening to it regularly.
