Crushing It: Lifestyle Manual for Living & Profiting from your Life as a Brand
The media could not be loaded. “If you’re earning what you need to live the life you want and loving every day of it, you’re crushing it.”I was at SXSW 2009 when Crush It! came out & he keynoted; I had no idea who he was.Today, he’s pivoted into pop culture. With Crushing It!, he goes back to his roots. Understand—he already had a successful, $60 million wine business. He already had Wine Library TV. Understand, if email marketing & AdSense kept huge ROI & open rates, we wouldn’t have this book. But also understand, this book is about the journey. The journey available open to all of us. Couple of quotes that shook me:“Even with 1000 followers, an entry-level Instagrammer could earn $5,000 per year with two posts a week. And ten thousand followers could net almost $20,000 per year.”“You don’t get to call yourself an expert until you’ve put in the work—and the market decides, not you.”“How many people above the age of thirteen in America do not have a cell phone? Practically no one.”Instagram didn’t EXIST nine years ago when Crush It! came out. Today, it’s minting millionaires. Cell phones had a modicum of the marketing & broadcasting capabilities they have now. Many brands in the first edition—UStream, blip.tv, Flickr—have vanished or lost relevance. The tactics are different; the strategies remain the same. Intent, Authenticity, Passion, Patience, Speed, Effort, Attention, Content. What matters is getting into the game. This book starts you off on the journey how. Not only that, it shows you those people who’ve done it. Granted—it’s a little tongue in cheek that EVERY case study read the original book. But hey, author’s prerogative.Read Chapters 1-7. Then pick ONE of the other chapters & follow Gary’s advice for a year. I know—that’s crazy. But you have to build a pillar—we all don’t have a DRock or Babin to record & annotate documenting our lives. I went to the length of buying a second cell phone so I could always have a device focused on creation.Pick the platform you gravitate towards. And get started becoming a creator instead of being a consumer. Document, create, listen, consume.

Great book for any creator!
Gary Vaynerchuk's "Crushing It!" was a great representation of the modern day. It truly shows the new styles of art, influence and especially job opportunities that social media has created for us. It is amazing how much one person can know about a topic. But after looking deeper into Gary and some of his other books, it is clear that he is a knowledgeable, credible and dependable source for a lot of these ideas. Not just in social media marketing and self-branding, he also touches on health, how to respect yourself as a businessman and as a human. He helped me this year in a lot of ventures I am interested in. He shows interviews and bios of dozens of other creators that have "made it". The book is very humbling. Gary shows us many cases of instances where I was better off than the person being described. It really put me in a place of gratitude. He also shows you how to take what you love and if you put enough effort in, you can make the thing you enjoy into a real business. He seems like an aggressive businessman, but he just truly believes in what he's teaching everyone else. If you are an aspiring artist, entrepreneur or just a lost person, read this book. It will truly help you in the long run. Just the short amount of time I read this book my life and motivation has changed for the better. I would read this book more than once to really get his meaning behind it.Get the book. You won't regret it. It will open a part of your brain and heart that will make you understand things about yourself and the space around you better.

Buy the book!
Once again Gary over delivers. . Downloading the kindle edition at 3am was probably a bad idea, because I literally could not stop reading. In the middle of chapter 4 Gary states that it’s his greatest hope that by the end of the book we would have the same type of confidence, instilled in us, that propelled him into the pool even though he didn’t know how to swim. . . This book could have ended right there and still accomplished that purpose. This is the first “business” book that I have read that so perfectly wed the concrete and practical skills with the more abstract psychology and principles behind brand building. . . Meaning not only does he tell you the why’s behind brand building, but he also tells you the practical strategies he’s picked up as a practitioner…so that we can pull this off as well. But he doesn’t stop at just equipping the reader with new tactics/skills. He goes even further and repeatedly reminds us that we can pull this off, and demonstrates (with real world examples) that this really is possible for any of us. . .Considering the practical tips and the shots of confidence Gary injects throughout the book….it’ll be no surprise that many people will get so fired up at points throughout the book that they're tempted to start thinking that they will be Crushing it within a matter of days. Thankfully, Gary keeps us grounded from this pie in the sky mentality and helps us balance our (over)enthusiasm by regularly reminding us that this requires hard work, dedication and patience. . .So…if you’re looking for a book that will both inspire you to start and equip you to start building your personal brand, then I highly recommend buying this book. Not only is it worth every penny at $20 . . . it would be worth every penny at $2,000.Thank you, Gary, for all you do and for putting this book into the world…this will be my primary text book for my 2023 campaign for State legislature. Don’t worry… I’m not waiting for 2023 to get started…the campaign starts now!

A book for anyone that understands the future!
Crushing It! is not your typical self-help book and neither is Gary Vaynerchuk trying to be a motivational speaker. In this book, he clearly defines principles that can enable one's mindset to understand how to be an entrepreneur or an influencer through personal branding. This book gives you guidance on how to use social media to your advantage. As a poet that is trying to get recognised, I feel that there are gaps in the market and I have only realised this because of this book. I have now started to plan and implement my strategy to get my poems noticed and if they are good enough, which i feel they are, to be noticed.Thank you Gary for this amazing book and for helping me.

Buy it - you won't regret it.
I've followed Gary on YouTube and podcasts for a while now, but never read any of his books. His online content can be hit and miss for me, some parts genius - some parts unwatchable. This book for me is genius. There is not much here that you won't have heard from Gary before, but the beauty of the book is that it is all here together, clearly laid out and explained. It is what Gary does so well, it isn't a motivational book (along the lines of Tony Robbins) but it motivates better than any other book that I have read for a long time. You finish believing that you could "crush it". He gives lots of ideas and theories mixed with real examples of people who used the ideas he used in his original book 'Crush it' to create success. It is easy and quick to read - easily labeled so you can refer back to parts that may be more useful and doesn't overwhelm with information. It covers examples from all different types of businesses and professions. He understands social media and its impact better than anyone - I really believe him when he makes statements about where things will have moved to in the future, the chapter on 'voice' is something that no one else is covering at the moment. You will learn from this book, there is not a wealth of deeply practical information, it is a book that will open your eyes to how to use social media for business and 'plant the seeds' that you could now develop.

Ok but too simplistic
I was excited for this but I was dissatisfied and have never finished it. It’s far too simplistic and, I know it’s the style of the book, but I didn’t like the interviews with the ‘real people’. Maybe it’s just me but I find it a bit boring, and not really informative enough. No one else’s journey is exactly the same as yours. This book is fine if you want a few tips and some inspiration but his podcast is frankly a better motivator. The book is bordering on recycled info - and the writing is aimed at ‘the everyman’ so it’s not intellectual enough for me (sorry that sounds a bit egotistical!) but you may know what I mean. I’ve gone off Gary a bit now, he’s a bit inflated and too SHOUTY. Calm down, we get it, work hard… ;)

Want to be successful in Social Media Do This ...
Gary's follow up to "Crush it!" in which he updates the book in terms of movements in social media and layers on top success stories. That is, people that have contacted Gary and explained their journey and how they have "crushed it" using Gary's advice. If you consume any of Gary's content, I doubt you will find anything in here that you haven't heard before. The fact of the matter is, if you follow what Gary says in this book you will be successful and if you don't, then you are unlikely to be successful. Social Media, like so many things in life, means there are no silver bullets, there are no free rides. If you put the hours in, it pays off.

Great read for newbies & those transitioning from bricks & mortar to online
I’ve been following Gary Vee for quite a while now and as a beginner to the entrepeuner journey or going from bricks & mortar to online - this is amazing. However I feel like if you already have social media presence and understand where it’s going etc it’s a little average. I normally read through business books really quick as I absolutely love to learn new things which will enlighten me and help my business but I’m hitting half way and not got that urgency to get through it. I’ll carry on with it since there’s always content that needs refreshing in our brains etc and perspectives can shift in a sentence. Definately a great one for new entrepeuners / those thinking of taking the leap! Thanks Gary!
