A Dark Thrill Ride
Let's be clear ... this is a dark novel (and it is a full-length novel; not just a novella). As the title makes clear, cuckolding is at the core of this story, but it also features male bisexuality and walks a thin line between behaviors that are consensual and not. So this novel won't be everyone's cup of tea--but if you can handle the subject matter, it's an erotic, suspenseful thrill ride. Bobby and Carrie Ann are a young couple very much in love, and very much into teasing each other with sexual fantasies. Those fantasies go to some dark places--places that both excite and scare Bobby. Against that background, Bobby wants to take Carrie Ann to a way-off-the-path spot along the Cosawatee River in Tennessee where he had camped as a boy. What Bobby hadn't planned on was their special weekend intersecting with an office conflict with a coworker and two devious good-ole-boys. What happens in those hills won't stay in those hills--those who make it out will be changed in great and small ways. My only complaint with Pascal's work is his methodical pace: it takes a good quarter of the book for the plot to get rolling. Bobby does a great deal of ruminating in those early pages (as husbands are wont to do in such books) and, while his thoughts are not uninteresting, they become almost a tease for the action of the latter chapters. For the tolerant reader, it's not a deal-breaker, and overall Pascal delivers a ride as thrilling for the reader as it is for the characters.

Happy Valley
Parker Pascal knows the psychology of sexual masochism. This story mirrors the 1972 movie "Deliverance", where homosexuality got the backwoods nod through the character Ned Beatty who submitted at gunpoint to the dominance of the room temperature IQ of the backwoodsmen of Tennessee. This story takes the fantasy of Carrie Ann Ambaugh and her husband Bobby, who share the excited taboo of consensual cuckolding. There is forgiveness in the beard Carrie Ann provides for her husbands latent homoerotic curiosity. She encourages his subjugation to the men she finds attractive. The COOSAWATTEE river provides both the opportunity for Bobby to take his wife camping where his father introduced him to as a child, and to let his wife be his judge jury and executioner. The mountain hasn't changed yet the inhabitants are now more educated. This story is long but perfectly to the point of trust especially in terms of fetish. The history of the area and the modern day wife sharing fantasies merge to make for the most entertaining thrill of loving consent to fulfilling fantasy with complete respect. Excellent novel 150 k words.

Not my cup of tea
People that find erotic stories interesting generally also desire a specific kind of erotica. I am not into this particular flavor of erotica. I gave it two stars for that reason.Erotica for me is about fantasy and pleasure. The cuckold genre also includes humiliation and I’m okay with that, but sadism and torture isn’t part of my fantasy and that is what this story is focused on.I made it about halfway through the book and that was as far as I could go.

Anyone interested in campling?
Full Disclosure, my concept of camping is really a room on the third floor of a three-star hotel. Really roughing is a hotel in a dry county. The other disclosure is that I am likely one of the very few people, at least at my ancient age, that has never seen the movie Deliverance. I know it exists. Just never hit my to see list. I'm sure my ignorance caused me to miss the careful work done by the author to meld the two works together.Others have provided an excellent synopsis. There is a feast of meat in this excellent work. It is interesting, amusing, intensely sexual, and detailed. It features immense truth. The fictional part is that it seems impossible for all of those truths to burst into recognition in the scope of a week. Invest enough time, energy, thought, and I guess meditation and after several years, it will all come together for you.In the epilogue lies a great truth on the core of what motives us to pursue the path that most would never consider taking and that those of us who do make great effort to accomplish in the shadows. I have read a lot of those family annuals that are published in December, but none, even from fellow campers have included details of what we know took place during the year. It is truly a solid and enjoyable relationship, when both know what the other needs and the two fit together.

A hotwife, a cuckold, and a bear...Oh My!
In what is often the case in any good man vs. nature tale, it's other humans that are the real danger to watch out for!Parker really delivers, no pun intended, with an erotic adventure that takes its characters on an even wilder ride than the original story it's loosely based on. Much like the film, this one is not for the faint of heart as it delves deep into the darker side of the hotwife genre. However, if you're looking for something that pushes the 'typical' boundaries and doesn't shy away from exposing the truly depraved lengths someone might go to in order to make their fantasies come true, then this is definitely a story worth reading all the way through.A great re-imagining of the classic novel/film by a talented author. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic
Just, fantastic. There aren't very many erotica writers that can effectively build tension and then actually manage it once sex starts happening, but all be damned if this isn't one of the best examples of that I've seen. A full third of the book precedes the actual fully erotic content but that time is well spent developing the characters, hinting at their desires, and playing with their fantasies in a way that makes every explicit moment that follows so much better. The book is intense and it doesn't skimp on the humiliation, but the intensity was well managed in a way that many other erotic authors, even those writing short porno stories, could learn from.
