Does everything you would expect............ and more!
What a great calculator this is. OK its just a calculator, but even so! The screen, which is quite large, is divided into different menus for easy of topics.Speaking of size, this is quite big, the largest calculator I have every had, but that is what I like about it, because you can see previous calculations still on the screen at a glance. I also like that fractions are seen as written on paper, although you can decide in which way to see them on the set up menu. The manual is more of a tome (400+ pages) and comes on a cd, but I have found out most of the elements by trial and error. I also think the manual is not very easy to follow, I have found Youtube to be a better source of info as there are many videos to show how different elements work I also found a great site to add further small programs that help you calculate functions immediately, with just a few info inputs, like finding prime factors, or quadratic division, multiplication etc .... not sure if I am allowed to add a link but here it is http://gfxcprograms.weebly.com/grouped-programs.html the programs are free to download. You can also add Geometry, Physium and probability programs from the casio website. I did find it a bit tricky to add the programs, but got worked it out eventually. Again, info for that can be found on youtube. Very happy with this calculator and I would imagine it will last me into a maths degree too as the menu and abilities are so extensive.

Perfect for Higher Education - A levels and University
Really good, I used this for my OCR Maths As exams (It is allowed by all exam boards though), and it is even more useful in A2 Level maths, while it is not 'necessary' it is invaluable for checking answers quickly (as it can simply give the 'final answer' for many questions) and helping to quickly understand difficult and often confusing graphical questions. Nb - As levels are no longer taken by students, however this calculator will still be incredibly useful for those taking A Level maths.

A level maths... A great calculator
When we bought this for our son we were quite sad. We spent £5.99 on a GCSE calculator 5 years ago and he has carried it to school every day in that time. Now he is due to start A level further maths at 6th form college and we bought him this. It might sound silly but it is a great sign that he is growing up. We will keep the original calculator as a memory and we look forward him to using this at college and maybe even at uni. He loves it and says its amazing, doing more than he imagined.

Great support tool for statistics and probability
I was undertaking a post grad stats course and needed a tool to aid learning. There is a good selection of statistical functions (T Chi Poisson etc distributions) and the calculator was relatively easy to use. One area that is poor is the documentation. It is possible to use the Stats functions from with in the Run-MAT setting, but the syntax is not documented and you need to reverse engineer it.

Really easy to use
I have used a few graphic calculators before but I have found this one to be the easiest to use by far. With previous models that I have used I needed to look in the extensive manual or look up instructions online. However, with this calculator I managed to figure out almost all of the functions that I wanted to use fairly easily just by playing around with it. One big advantage of this model over the FX-9750GII is the "Natural Display" or "NATURAL-V.P.A.M" feature rather than the single line display which make it much easier to type and read integrals etc. I found this really useful when studying A level Maths/Further Maths and would recommend it.

More than adequate for requirements.
This machine exceeded all the requirements for the tasks for which it was purchased. Purchased by me for a sixth form student studying among other things mathmatics, physics, chemistry and economics. The item has proven to be extremely useful in a wide variety of circumstances.

Engineer's Dream
Not ideal for a-level although you are allowed to use it for edexcel, you do not really require it. perfect if you need memory capacity and programmability. it doesn't have the capacity for symbolic diff/int but you can add app that allow for that, and other mathematical, physics and engineering related apps. you can also play games like minesweeper if that interests you.

Long past its best but a strong contender if £30 or less.
Plus Points Very robust. Excellent battery life. Large, clear, natural display. The highly logical operating system makes it user-friendly and easy to use. Wide range of statistical functions covering everything from t-tests, z-tests, chi-squared tests (GOF and contingency tables), normal distribution, binomial distribution, Poisson distribution, geometric and hyper-geometric distributions, ANOVA and regression analysis (e.g., PMCC and line of best fit). Exceedingly easy to program in Casio's version of BASIC, and with all mathematical symbols, together with lowercase and uppercase letters, you can design your own software to cover almost anything within reason not incorporated into the standard OS. A wide range of apps are available, free-of-charge, that integrate into the main menu and provide useful features. Physium gives a periodic table with detailed information about each element. The third-party app, Algebra, provides useful CAS facilities, allowing you to find the derivative of a function in terms of x rather than only the numerical value at a specific point and, to a limited extent, copes with indefinite integration. It also expands algebraic expressions, including those raised to a positive integer, and can expand expressions with complex numbers. Not as good as a proper CAS calculator in this respect, but well worth having. There's also an app that allows you to program in Python. The graphics facilities are excellent and enable you to find intersection points between curves, roots, gradients, areas under curves, and even the equation of normals and tangents at specific points. All very easy to do and mostly intuitive. It is JCQ approved for use in GCSE and A-level exams and features an exam mode to prevent cheating. When activated, anything not permitted can't be accessed during the exam. Minus Points The amount of ROM available is exceedingly small (2MB) and doesn't allow use of certain apps designed for the Casio fx-9750GIII or fx-9860GIII versions, e.g., Khicasen. Khicasen is similar to the Algebra app but a lot better at indefinite integration, partial fractions and polynomial division. To transfer data to a computer requires use of Casio's FA124 software on a device running Windows. This is available for free but not as convenient as later models that are just plug and go. Casio will not be giving any more software updates. Not a major issue, but useful features have been incorporated historically by OS updates, e.g., a battery level indicator and an exam mode that complies with both GCE and IB exams. We don't know what the future holds, but any new features or software tweaks will not be offered by Casio. The Casio fx-9750GIII costs less and is even better, as it has more memory, is plug and go and is supported in terms of software updates.

My daughter loves it
I bought this as a gift for my daughter and she loves it, she says she didn't understand how she went through high school without it. She's studying computer science and she says this is the best tool she has had to solve her math problems. Great power efficiency, the batteries last a long time in a daily basis use. Overall it is a great instrument, an useful tool for engineering students. At first hand it seems quite complicated to handle, but first impression doesn't last much. It has nice graphics and neat programs, with a large variety of programs and methods, and you can even program them yourself with basic programming skills. Pros: It is somewhat complete, has nice graphics tools and capabilities, the battery last long, it is programmable and has great alternatives for math writings forms. It has all basics and a large variety of methods, and you can find on internet a lot of programs for physics, economics, electrical solving, probabilistic and others Cons: It doesn't have much memory so you can't have many methods programs at once at the same time, meaning if you want to have the electrical circuits solver program and a Lagrange or New-Raph solver, or Gauss or Thevening among others, you have to choose one at the time because it won't be able to storage them all. And there are a few methods missing like Laplace transform, Inverse Laplace, Integral Asymptotics, Chrombach alpha and other advance methods in math, calculus and probabilistic. But the price is excellent

Excellent but not accepted by teachers
Compared to the TI counterparty (in particular the TI84) it performs exactly the same functions but has an absolutely superior display. Unfortunately, many teachers claim the TI84, even if it is a model that is now completely obsolete.
