10 Frame Langstroth Insulated Bee Hive Set with Plastic Handy Frames (White Top)

This is a game changer when it comes to beekeeping. I have over 50 hives bought 5 of these, and I will be purchasing 5 more shortly. This is the only hive I will ever buy again. They thought of everything: built in feeder, queen excluder, bottom board, pollen trap, frames, entrance reducers and more. I am just blown away by this hive. It has everything anyone could ever want in a hive. Additionally, it is a very hard plastic, it feels like it will hold up for years, if not a lifetime. It feels similar to heavy coolers. If it happens to have issues, I will update this review, but again, you cant go wrong with this hive. I highly recommend it for new beekeepers and experienced.

Going into our 3rd year of beekeeping here in NW Montana. These hives are great ... we have 2 of them, will probably add a 3rd colony next season. These hives are easy to work with & very well thought out in terms of features. To be safe, I made some foamboard covers to put over the hives - our Winters can be brutal with wind and subzero temps, so some extra wind/cold protection isn't a bad thing. Being able to minimize the hive entrance & cover the vents in the slide-out bottom board (with tape) for extra draft protection seems to work great ... even on the coldest days I can put an ear to the hive and hear the reassuring low-frequency drone of bees inside, and come Spring they are out and about, ready to take on another season. Spendy as they are, I think it's well worth the investment. That said, we did lose a colony earlier this year, but can't attribute that to the hive; looks like it was Nosema in conjunction with some freakishly mild days in Feb/March that had the bees leaving the hive for cleansing flights and the brood got chilled. The queen and some tenders were the last ones standing ... beautiful and depressing at the same time.

I tried this hive and after only ten months my bees are dead. That is the poor bees who did not leave when all the others just kept swarming out starting in August. At first I thought it was my fault because I'm a new bee keeper They just kept swarming out every couple of days. It wasn't until I went out to check on my two hive test. Only to find the plastic hive dead and the wooden hive bees flying in 49 temps. After opening the top on the wooden hive and getting the blast of moist hot air from the hive did I finally figure it out. The bees will never live in a plastic hive, It will never be incorporated into what I just learned, a bee machine. Not only are the bees the machine but the hive is also. No one tells you this, you have to learn this yourself. I was looking at it as a house, not a part of the machine. Not only that but I even think this hive kills the bees in the cold weather. Its just bad, wood is the way. I will be making a video of the test I did wood vs plastic hive. I should have done 10 frame vs 8 frame, my bees would still be alive and happy like the wooden hive is. The desire of everything included and of not painting a wooden hive cost my bees everything, BEWARE

I have bought 2 of these hives. I recently had a black bear try to break into both of them, without any success. He did manage to knock one of them off of its stand, but I had very few lost in the fall, most importantly the queen was fine. The only damage to the hive itself were a few scratches.

I'm very pleased with this hive thus far. I'm using wooden frames in it now but next year I will use the plastic frames that come with it. This hive is very well insulated and put together. Everything fits perfectly. The hive has so many options and features that virtually any negative eventuality can be dealt with. I highly recommend this hive. I got mine on Amazon and paid extra to have it delivered to Japan and it was worth every penny/yen!
