Great Collection of Classic Jeff Beck CDs in a Box Set
I just received the Jeff Beck Original Album Classics Box Set today and the sound is incredible. As far as additional information, the tracks, musicians, and production information are listed along with the original release dates for each album. However, there is no mention of the CDs being remastered. I have an individual copy of "Rough and Ready" that is remastered and I paid $14.14 including tax but could not verify that any of the CDs in the box set were afforded the remastering treatment. So, I think one reviewer was either mistaken or deliberately wanted to mislead people. Hey, it takes all kinds and I just want to submit an honest review. The sound on the disks on my high-end system is excellent and you can debate the quality of the mix on your individual systems until the moon turns purple but it's not going to change or diminish the overall sound of the recordings in this box set. I also noted that this 2015 release does not list 11 tracks, with "You Know What I Mean" and "She's A Woman" as tracks 10 and 11, respectively. Other reviewers mentioned this mistake on the packaging, so I suspect that Sony must have noted the error and corrected it accordingly. I have posted a jpg of the front and back of the box set for anyone wishing to compare it with the older version. I can confirm that the individual CDs are in mini album jackets, without an inner protective sleeve, but when you're getting 5 albums for $18.80, including the tax for my geographic location, that equates to $3.76 per CD and that's a hell of a bargain for quality music. If you're interested in procuring the box set then I doubt you'll see a better deal than this, at least for the time being. The main thing is that you can order this box set with confidence that you will be receiving a quality product, barring any potential damage that might occur during the delivery. Enjoy!

Very good recording.
Sound quality is excellent. That's why I gave it 4 stars. I love Jeff's early stuff (Beck's Bolero). I'm not such a fan of the Album Classics. The musicianship is there but Jeff does not stand out as much. The keyboards seem to override the guitar. Although I like some compositions (lots of instrumentals) this stuff is kind of like funky jazz. I'm more a fan of the Blues, so my comments are just a matter of my taste.

A great way to flesh out your Cd collection.
I've been a Jeff Beck fan since he was in the Yardbirds. Yes I have the actual vinyl albums to prove it. Many of them are much loved, and in horrible shape. It is so nice to hear these particular albums again; without static. Overall its an easy decision since finding these CDs individually can be a real exercise in frustration. If you are a fan, go for it. If you don't know anything about Jeff Beck and you like fine guitar work, you won't be sorry.

If you love hi-fi look for another version
I was hopeful that this set would have a better sounding version of "Live with the Jan Hammer Group", but alas the older one I have sounded much more natural and easy to listen to. The same was true for the "orange" album. If you love hi-fi look for another version.

EXCELLENT VALUE, BRILLIANT GUITARIST
You could argue that Jeff Beck has never made one completely satisfying album....and that may be true, but he has made lots of very good ones, and there is no denying that taken as a set, this makes for a very impressive body of work.Rough and Ready is one of the albums at the forefront of jazz rock, and tracks such as I've Been Used are criminally under rated rock songs. Beck moves further into jazz rock with the superb Blow By Blow, beautifully produced by George Martin..this all-instrumental guitar classic features track after track of quite magnificent guitar.Beck teams up with Jan Hammer on Wired, and you can hear Hammer's electronic influence starting to creep in, but Beck, ever the musician, goes with it and matches Hammer's keyboard creativity with his ever-loving guitar style, and songs like Blue Wind are rightly regarded as Beck classics, but elsewhere on this album there are stand outs like the beautiful Goodbye Pork Pie Hat.Not a perfect set (you'd have Beck-ola in there instead of the live album) but great for those wanting to discover more about Beck, or for fans want a int to buy in bundle on a budget. Great value!

Guitar master
It hurts me to say this as i'm a massive Led Zep fan, but out of the Yardbirds trinity of Clapton, Page and Beck, Beck is by far the superior guitarist: a beautiful touch, understands the dynamic of electric guitar, great use of tone and volume, and of utmost importance: he lets the music breathe, unlike the clown guitarists nowadays who oversaturate everything. These albums represent a great period for Jeff's music where he really grew as a musician, so you hear everything from blues and soul influences to jazz fusion. A must buy if you're a fan or a guitarist that's unfamiliar with his work. Enough said.

top value cd
I'm a Jeff Beck enthusiast way back to vinyl 'Truth', so this 5 cd compilation for me rounds up a lot of his classic & heavy rock which defines him. He doesn't join a genre of music, he just is his own genre - no-one else enjoins rock + electric classics + new age feel on top of his unmistakably stylish & masterful guitar playing that never seems to get stuck on just the past [tho cd 'Rough & ready' was TOO 'rough' for me]. The cds brought across also that he's a very inventive team player - there are some terrific lead vocals going on for instance, that I never expected. He can still REALLY keep the 'live' numbers 'alive' too, yet in one of them [2014 USA tour] he is 70 years old - & does it show in his playing? is the sound olde, grey & a bit whistley? no way! --- he may as well have been 27 again!! Quite an experience.

Great value and some top Jazz Rock Fusion in there
Had a couple of the albums from this collection on vinyl back in the day, Wired and Blow by Blow specifically, but got rid of them in an ill advised clear out. So bought this item to get them back, I forgot just how good wired is, Sophie being one of those fantastic "hit repeat" tunes. Have not got past reaquainting myself with Wired and Blow by Blow yet, so looking forward to that.

Exciting guitar based music
Exciting guitar based music. To me Jeff Beck is the most exciting guitarist ever, and I think these five albums show it as well as any.
