LESSON LEARNED: I was surprised at how S-L-O-W the coffee drained into the cup until I happened to look at the rinsed filter just before adding the coffee. The bottom seam of the paper filter, which is two layers of the paper, just like the side seam, was sitting directly over the three drain holes in the pour over. This was impeding the flow. The solution was to follow to the directions (that's a first) on the Melitta box to fold over the bottom and side seams before placing in the pour over. Position the filter so that only a single thickness of the paper covers the three bottom drain holes. Use a little water to help it stay in place before rinsing and then brewing. Be sure to rinse each filter in-place in the pour over with brewing temperature water before you brew. If you drain that into your coffee cup, and not the sink, also rinse your cup afterwards to remove any off flavors that result from this rinsing. Take 2-3 minutes to pour the water in during brewing.
