need more
I really wish this was longer. The story was great, but if it was longer it could’ve developed more. I think the ending started getting rushed, it didn’t make sense that this all happened in the span of what 5 weeks? That said, it’s so cute to see their dynamics, but I wanted more. The book was too short and left me wanting, but that’s why I gave it 5 stars. It kept me interested.

Maybe not my thing?
So I really enjoyed these characters, but I was a little disappointed the book didn't spend more time developing their relationships with each other. There were several scenes where they were (separately) hooking up with strangers. They were sexy enough but really unnecessary. They didn't drive the plot and really slowed the pace of the story. A lot of the book was spent in narratives of the characters reflection on themselves and soul searching. It started to read like a self-help book at times. There was absolutely zero conflict between the three of them. I get that Ryan and Alex had an open relationship for years but that was for hookups not bringing in a third. In my experience it's never that smooth or easy. No matter how well you know each other. It wasn't very believable. The relationship between them didn't even really start until 70% of the way through the book. That first 70% felt like it was just setting the scene and taking too long. Really if you can cut a scene and your readers can still follow the story cut it. If the same information is being relayed to the readers more than one or two times cut the extra. It also needed more "show" and less "tell". It wasn't a bad story it just neede a lot more editing and tightening up.I've read other books by this author and really enjoyed them so I'll keep reading the other books. Maybe this was more just a personal preference issue.

Interesting take on a threesome story.
Romantic stories with multiple partners are since of my favorite stories, so I jumped on this one when I saw it. My favorite thing about the story was that it wasn't the stereotypical threesome story. Instead it was a smart, thoughtful look at a couple adding a third. The additional discussion of how important and interesting LGBT history is added to the background of the characters and helped them all connect.Recommended, for sure!

Missing something
I give this 3 stars because I feel like the book ended in the middle. What happens between Charlie and Julian? What and how does Charlie get his life in the right space for him? I agree that their story together started towards the end of the book. There are also numerous grammar issues.

New author for me, heartfelt story
I really enjoyed this story. I liked being able to see all three MC's POV. Really well written and great steamy scenes. Lots of heart, low angst and sexy times.Damn near perfection. I hope I get to read more about these guys. And I definitely will read more from the author R. Cayden.

We All Screw Up
And we're all still worthy of being valued. Fascinating glimpse into the 80s and 90s history of gay life are sprinkled into a solid story of real, fallible, and lovable people.

I hated it.
I absolutely hated it. Not worth the read. Don’t waste your time with this garbage. Does reality go right out the window. Yes. Is it boring. Yes. Does it suck. Yes. Did I waste my time that I can’t never get back. Yes.

Believable, touching, hot
I really enjoyed this book and have the second in the series on my Kindle, ready to go. But I wanted to take a few minutes to write a review for The History Professor. It, and the author, R. Cayden, deserve reviews. I’m not very good at them, though, but here we go!Taking a chance on a new author can be risky but the excitement of finding one so talented is a wonderful payoff. This is a believable story about two men who love each other and are committed to each other— both possible, IMO, without monogamy as long as folks in the relationship are honest. Communication is, as always, key. Ryan and Alex are secure, mature, and they know the value of each other and their love. Jealousy isn’t a thing because they don’t doubt each other and they give their love everything they’ve got. That means accepting that things shift in the relationship, too; that as they grow as individuals and a couple, what they need and can give changes, too. That awareness and the ability to love, a great capacity for love, in fact, are beautiful facets of Alex and Ryan’s personalities. They are generous and wise, and not perfect by any means. When Alex spots a younger man at a gay bar, he sees something of himself in the man— Charlie, who has a sarcastic veneer to cover for his insecurities. Charlie is running scared of things he isn’t even aware of. He’s not making the best decisions and he’s hurting someone who cares a great deal for him. When everything comes to a head, Charlie can either work at improving himself, or let his circumstances wreck him. What starts out as a hook-up, one that is very steamy, opens the doorway for something more. It isn’t instantaneous, and there are some bumps and roadblocks along the way. There is just the right amount of angst, and none of the contrived misunderstandings that are sometimes used in stories. All in all, an enjoyable read. I hope you’ll take a chance on it like I did.
