DoorBell Fon DP28CA Door Station Controller

I no longer have telephone service at my home since we only used the cell phones anyway. But we can use the telephones for the Doorbell Fon which is great. When ever the telephone rings, we know it's someone at the door and we can speak to those uninvited guest trying to sell something "No Thank You" without ever having to stop what we're doing to go to the door.

DP28CA normally works well for the intended purpose. However, it is highly sensitive to weather related power surges. During the past 5 years, I have replaced it four times, each time after a thunderstorm.

I have been using the DoorBell Fon Door Station Controller for several years. Unfortunatelylightening got it. I have been very pleased with this particularproduct, love being able to answer the doorbell by phone, no matter whether I am in the houseor out in the yard with portable phone. I would certainly recommend it.

We bought one of these some 5-6 years ago for my mother-in-law's house. She's getting up there and we wanted her to be able to answer the door more easily. The original unit worked great, but a few months ago her phone line started to be solid busy; her local telco guys traced the problem to the unit - they could unplug it, plug it back in, and it would work fine again for a few days or weeks then lock up her phone again. Fine - she loves the capability so I bought her this replacement and she actually managed to talk the phone company guys into installing it for her (she's had lots of phone issues and knows the repair crew pretty well). The new one - this one - works well except that when call waiting kicks in she gets a high-pitched whine on the line which only goes away when she hangs up. She still likes it but doesn't have a mechanism to swap out a new one, so she's just living with it.

This was a replacement for an identical item that took way tomalley power hits. considering how many power hits the original took, it lasted a long time. many other items in the residence had multiple failures while this one soldiered on. shows how well made it is.

This was a replacement unit manufactured in 2010. My original Door Bell Fon DP28C controller (manufactured in 2006) had fsiled after four years of service. The new unit appears to have an updated circuit board.The old unit was preventing inbound calls to be completed - anyone calling my house would not get an answer. When I tested it by calling with my cell phone, the house phone would ring two quck rings, then drop the connection after 17 or 18 seconds. Verified this by rewiring the house phone circuit to bypass the controller, after which I could receive inbound calls.

You had the exact product I needed, it arrived very timely and was at a good price. If my doorbell fon goes out again, which I hope it does NOT, I will go to Amazon to buy another. Always find what I need @ Amazon.com.

I have to replace for clients on a regular basis. Great product, simply wish it's circuitry could handle power issues better.
