Where Trust Lies (Return to the Canadian West)

What a beautiful story of family, love, faith and God during a wonderful but terrible time. It just goes to show that u never know what God has in store for us.
I would recommend this series for anyone who loves to read inspirational stories. You will be greatly blessed by these wonderful authors.

Book 2
I love Janette Oke books. This series is another I love the characters and the scriptures included. Sometimes when they are going through difficulties the scriptures and prayers helps me.

Where Trust Lies
I have been looking forward to reading Mrs. Oke's newest book, and was so excited when it came out. This book is the continuing story of Beth, but it does not take place in Coal Valley, as the first book in the series did. The story takes place as Beth, her mother and sisters go on a cruise along with some friends. This is not one of my favorite books by this author, but I enjoy all of Mrs. Oke's books, and I'm sure that it will be enjoyed by all of her fans. I'm looking forward to a sequel; there are some loose ends that I would like to see tied up in a sequel.

Disappointing
I usually love all of Janette Oke’s books, but this one was missing something. Missing a lot actually. It was rather boring throughout and the writing didn’t capture my attention as so many of her previous books have. It was hard to get to know the characters as most of the writing focused on scenery and the ship. The ENTIRE book is their little family vacation. I also felt like an outsider looking in, instead of being “in” the story. Beth felt almost like a stranger and I feel like she’s almost a completely different character than she was in book one. Also, her faith in God was definitely lacking in this book, and I didn’t feel the spiritual encouragement I feel from her other books. It’s almost like adding a prayer to God or mentioning Him was an afterthought instead of woven deeply throughout the story as in her other books. Definitely disappointed in this one. So disappointed that I doubt I’ll read the sequel. (And I have never not wanted to finish a series written by Janette). Makes me wonder if the change of writing style has to do with the fact that her daughter coauthored this book with her. Feels and sounds like maybe her daughter wrote most of it, because Janette’s style of writing and heart are missing.

Forever and always a fan of this series
I recently reread all of the Canadian West series and found these continuation books. The lessons and examples of faith are exactly why I read them. Thank you for a superb story with truth

Even better than the TV series!
I recently purchased both books in this series. I was reluctant at first because I watch the Hallmark series "When Calls the Heart" and thought there might not be enough difference to make the books interesting. Well, there are MAJOR differences, and I love that!! As much as I enjoy the Hallmark series, these books are MUCH better. I quickly read them both, and am now anxiously (and expectantly) waiting for a 3rd book in this series, hopeful that those plans are in the works. As usual, with Janette Oke, I dearly love the characters and am anxious to see what the future holds.

Great Series! So wholesome!
I just finished the 2 books in this series & loved it! Now I'm waiting for the 3 book coming out in July 2016! The only thing I don't like about this author's books are they are not long enough! LOL. I could read her for days & days if the books were longer! I just can't seem to get enough of this authors stories, or her characters! I'm also a big fan of the movies & now a TV show on The Hallmark Channel that have been made from her books!

Moving
The book was filled with such a variety of emotions. There were joyful and distressful times. There were examples of love of family and love of your partner. The thread that bound the story was the unfaltering love of God

Seemed to loose it's way
I was a bit disappointed with this novel. First in series set a lovely storyline about Beth teaching in a coal valley, earning the respect of the community and meeting a Mountie then falling in love. This, the second tells the story of Beth going home for the summer and going on a cruise with her mother and sisters. Everything goes wrong and her Mountie rushes to her side, but for what purpose?
