A fine reference book for your personal library !
A wonderful complete book for our libraries for those of us who like to combine electro and digital information but still enjoy : PAPYRUS and do not feel criminalized for the production of paper to the environment ! We deplete our woodlands by building massive industrial plants and the production of paper for writing and being the author of books does not take all that much space ! in comparison to what it does for our intellects. The production of technology also has its drawbacks environmentally . . . Every metal and piece of wire which becomes outdated and new androids and other (can't do wthout technology,) can be melted down but IS NOT . . . This book is a compendium of fine songs and poems of a great thinker : Robert Burns. Children can sing some of his songs which will have real meaning for their lives and happiness. Our language is dying out and even this Scotsman need an accompanying glossary of language .!People in Scotland have used Robert Burns as an inspirator for new thinking and ideas which can rival any TV anchorman/woman . . . yes even, CNN ! We must struggle to keep one of our most important organ's alive: THE BRAIN and ability to make decisions and Robert Burns was an original thinker.

The delivery
The book of poems are great. The delivery was mishandled. The delivery person was expected to come into the building ad deliver to book to the person. It was placed on the first floor where anyone with sticky fingers could find it

Epic & Inspirational
This has all of Burns poems and songs in chronological order. There are notes throughout, some be Burns and some by editors, clarifying things. There is also a welcomed glossary to give understanding to Scottish and old school words.Beautifully bound and running at over 460 pages. A great hardcover testament to Scotland's Bard. The only problem I might have found was a poem towards the end on page 438, Mally's Meek, Mally's Sweet, it ends with a comma. I'm not sure if there is another line missing, or it should be a period, or if it's intentional.

A book for those who love Bobby Burns
I've always loved the poetry and songs of Bobby Burns. I taught English literature for 36 years, and while Burns was not born in the Romantic Age, he is considered a "pre-Romantic" for he shared many of the Romantics' traits. I'm going to hike the Great Glen in Scotland's Highlands in a few weeks and plan to start each day by reading aloud a poem or song by Burns. Then I will enjoy the sights and sounds of the country he so dearly loved.

No index
This may be a collection, but the lack of a functional index makes this just a browsing type of book. I wouldn’t buy it again

Wonderful!
This is a lovely volume. The dust cover design echoed on the gloss boards beneath. The pages thin but need to be to contain so many words! This mans collection of works is immense! Not only immense, but each a rare treat. I bought this only out of interest. I was curious as to what made this man such a Sottish icon. I did not have to read but a few verses to find the answer. Written in the Scottish dialect, and from a different era, many a word and phrase is lost on first reading, but somehow the meaning of the phrase still comes across. For those needing to fully understand each word, there is a concise glossary, although you will find yourself stopping every other line! Sometimes it is better to enjoy the musical flow of the words rather than their exact meaning, but the choose is there. One of the main things I found out about Burns on reading his works, and I was surprised by it, is that he had a wicked, wry and often naughty sense of humour! The man has had me in tears of laughter! He has also made me homesick for a time and place long gone, and I'm not even Scottish!

Most inclusive collection of poems and song words
A really nice book. It includes well known and not so well known works of Robert Burns. The songs are just the words, no music as such is included..

The poetry and songs of Robert Burns.
Although the old Scottish language makes it a difficult read at times, I find that in the main, the reading of the poetry of Robert Burns is very interesting and sometimes even moving. I have always wanted to read the poetry of Burns and I am continuing to do so.

At £4. 79, exceptional value for money! ...
At £4.79, exceptional value for money! It's not quite complete, because it contains only bowdlerised versions of the bawdier works. I appreciate that some people might prefer that, but the title is slightly misleading.
