Amazing
So from book one to book six, on edge great read, 10/10 recommend for anyone and I’m not going to lie, a little bit better then the Harry Potter series in my opinion, you don’t really love the characters like potter but it makes you think about the history of the world and could this be real

gets better and better.
Each next book in the series is as good or better than the last. I find myself reading more than my normal reading time slots S I want to know what happens.

Too many magical battles and not enough plot.
The cast of characters from the Alchemist is carried forward in this new novel. If you want constant action of wizards with magical powers this novel is for you. However, if you are looking for action with a substantive plot then you might try other novels. The author writes well and has a cast of characters, which is more than sufficient for the basis of an excellent novel. The sorceress Perenelle is trapped in Alcatraz, where she fights an endless series of battles with evil creatures. Her husband, Nicholas Flamel and the twins, are in England fighting a series of endless battles with their archenemies Dee and Machiavelli, who seem to have an endless supply of evil creatures at their disposal. I remember reading a review of a fast-paced action filled novel, which stated "action does not a plot maketh." Such is the case in this novel. Perenelle is slowly but surely losing her power, but seems to be able to conjure up a new trick to defeat the current evil creature. There is never any sense that she her life is truly in peril. The same is true with Flamel and the twins. The "Ancient Powers" who command Dee and Machiavelli are never clearly delineated, and at times create confusion that does not add to the plot. If I sound like a disappointed reader, I am. I think the battles could've been whittled down and the plot moved forward, taking the twins to their inevitable fates, which are of greater interest than the squabbles among the bad guys.

Now I know...
Read this series because my middle-school students kept talking about it and I felt I needed to see why they liked it. I found all the books moved along well and did not stray from the plot. A few surprises along the way. too. In each book the main group encounters new characters, good and bad, from world mythology - some Greek, some Roman, some Egyptian, and some... (many middle schoolers won't know the difference, so they could be used as a springboard for further investigation). This book, The Sorceress, deals largely with a main character in her fight to rejoin the main group. Quite readable, and violence is not graphic. I now understand my students' comments and recommend this series to others (and to any adult who may be curious).

Enjoyable Read
Michael Scott is really getting into a groove with this series. I started with the first book as a freebie, and picked up the next two at full price (guess that worked!! :)). I felt the first was too predictable, but each book in the series has gotten progressively better. His style is obvious (Like withholding an immortal's name for 2-3 pages, then hits you with some big name from history), but very enjoyable. I like knowing what I am going to get out of a book. I thought he did an excellent job of making you want more in this book, and I truly wasn't able to predict everything that happened in it, which is a good thing. I think you will find this book and the whole series, a very enjoyable read!

Good but not as exciting as the first two
Just for perspective, I'm a twenty-year-old college student who loves reading and fantasy in particular. This is another solid novel from Mr. Scott, but I wasn't completely bound to it like I was with the first two. The story is settling a bit, with Perenelle in one spot for most of the book and Flamel and the twins not on as many exciting rampages. I still ran into lots of legends I'd never heard of and got to look up, and others I knew about and appreciated a fresh take on, and that's part of the charm of this series. It's a good book, worth buying, but it felt a little like a tie-in for what comes next - I'm ready to see Sophie and Josh start taking charge.

Better than Potter!
Amazing tale through several books. Enjoyed even more than Harry Potter and we're big Potter fans. Can't recommend this enough! I've given several copies to young friends. But I enjoyed it as an adult. We even visited the Nicholas Flamel restaurant in Paris!

I recommend !!!
This book is great. The ways that the characters manage to communicate from long distances I would never have imagined. Through spider webs and through mirrors (I would have imagined that one but still)!I love the connection Perenell and Flamel have and they are countlessy relying on each other to get out of trouble somsituations. Speaking of Perenell, I think my favourite part of the book is when Perenell tricks Billy The Kid and Nicolo not by using magic but by being cunning! I think it would be shocking to know that The Crow Goddess would pick Perenell instead of the other 2. Nicolo thogt The Crow Godess would tip Perenellover but she helped her!I definitely recommend this book to 9-12 year olds.Maelle Mathilde 9 years old.

Ottima serie

The Séries Keeps Getting Better
More creatures from all over the world gather to make this an unforgettable addition to the series. Young people always love this book. Read the first two volumes before you tackle this one.
