Channeling Our Ancestor
No other author can create such vivid characters, such enthralling adventure, and excitingu⁶ troubles as D Gabaldan. She is genius at the keyboard with imagination and completely investigates her subject. Historic novels are good. Ms Gabaldan is unexpected at writing it. You'll be mesmerized and won't wish to put the book down before finding out what happens to the characters.Michael

A Between Tale
I'm still not precisely sure what to think of The Space Between, having just finished it last night. Definitely raises a lot of questions, and gives us glimpses into some side characters of the Outlander Universe; a page turner in some ways and a bit of a slow burn in others. We're quickly introduced to recent widower Michael Murray, son of Jenny and Ian Murray, who is accompanying Joan McKimmie, daughter of Laoghaire and step-daughter of Jamie, to Paris in order to become a nun. Joan is a sweet girl with a big secret: spoiler ahead..........she hears voices that compel her to do things, and she sees a sort of mist around those who are fated to die soon. She's hopeful that becoming a nun will help her find peace with her "gifts", while Michael is just hoping to survive without his wife. There's so much more going on, and much of it involves the Comte de St. Germain and Master Raymond, characters we first met in Dragonfly in Amber. There's also some mistaken identity problems, some mystical stuff, and references to La Dame Blanche (Claire). All of this aligns into an interesting story, but if you are looking for great answers about anyone, you are going to be disappointed. Instead, you are going to get engaging characters with Outlander ties and a story that will leave you unsettled (in a good way). Michael is thoroughly lovely, with his determination to do the right thing and his heartbreak over the wife he lost; Joan is sweet but unsure of herself. Of course it's wonderful to see the Comte and Master Raymond but there are no big clues here, just confirmation of what we've suspected that neither redeems nor demeans either. Mostly my appetite is whetted for more stories and more information. Gabaldon never disappoints in her writing, and this novella is a good way to tide you over the spaces between full novels.

The Space Between Answers Some Questions About Master Raymond and St. Germaine
For Outlander fans who have wondered what became of Marsali’s little sister, Joan McKimmie, and who Master Raymond really is, this is a satisfying read! Interesting back story for the Compte de St. Germaine.

..hey, it's written by Diana Gabaldon - - 'nuff said!
What a lovely teaser to keep Outlander addicts frothing at the mouth yet appeased for a bit longer, while we wait for book #8 to hit the stands. And this Novella is nothing less than remarkable in the usual DG fashion.Michael Murray, son of Ian and Janet Murray...nephew to Jamie and Claire Fraser and older brother to Ian Murray...is recently widowed and still grieving for his deceased wife - - and now has just lost his father as well. After burying his father in Scotland, Michael is returning to France and his Wine partnership with his Uncle Jared, escorting Joan MacKimmie [Laoghaire's daughter], who is traveling to a convent in Paris to take her vows. The year is 1778 and Michael cannot help but feel responsible for seeing Joan safely settled, and therefore is reluctant to not stay in touch with her.Comte St. Germaine (yes, he's back!...don't'cha love it?!?)....mistakes Joan as the daughter of Claire Fraser, whom he has a vendetta against and kidnaps her for his own unscrupulous plans. This is a fast paced and intriguing story told in the delicious narration and dialogue that only Ms. Gabaldon can produce... once again plunging the reader back into the fascinating world that is Outlander. It compelled me like a hypnotized drone, to open The Outlandish Companion and reacquaint myself with various characters, Gaelic grammar and British slang, Magic, Medicine and White Ladies. And now I have no choice but to begin this Saga from it's beginning....for the 4th time. I impatiently count the days until June 10th.

Another superb Story by Diana Gabaldon
This is an interesting side story to the Outlander series. As with all of Diana Gabaldon's stories, the character development is good, the story is almost non-stop action, and the quality of the writing is excellent. The story involves Joan, the daughter of Loaghaire, the wanna be girlfriend of Jamie's from the first Outlander novel. Joan is taken to Paris by Michael Murray to enter the convent. However Joan hears voices that tell the future. It is a captivating tale, typical of Gabaldon, that there are many promises of romance or stories to relate, but it also suffers from the feeling of being left hanging. Gabaldon's ability to pull you into the story so you don't stop reading is apparent in this novella. There is non-stop action and more of a science fiction content than with most of the Outlander stories. Both the characters, Michael and Joan, are quite sympathetic and the reader is desperate to hear more about them. Gabaldon has her work cut out for her to address all of these stories in future novels.

I want more!
The problem with these novellas is that they leave you hanging and wanting more! This particular one focuses on a couple of very minor characters, that were introduced along the way in the original Outlander series of books, until now that is. It also brings back some memorable ones as well. It makes you want Diana Gabaldon to write another book with these characters and the storyline already laid out, but with Jamie and Claire brought into it. Maybe she will?? This is worth reading especially if you can’t get enough of Outlander. This has nothing to do with the “Lord John Grey” series of books. Just FYI.

The Space between from Diana Gabaldon
I am a big fan of Diana Gabaldon.I read her first book in the serie 'Outlander' I in spanish, many years ago ( I suppose already when the first book came out ), and I loved the story so much that I started looking for the rest of the books.I have been recomending the serie to my daugther and she is now also a big fan of the Outlander Story and all the other books around the principle story.I even bought both books 'The Outlandish Companion' to remind me what happenend if I forget something ( so I will be prepared when the story continues).
