Life of a Mansion: The Story of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum Paperback – December 31, 2014

Less about the mansion and the family than hoped, more about the museum programs. Know if you visit the museum, it is mostly gutted and turned into blank gallery, so you won't get much of the 'house' beyond the main hall and stairs, Some arch plans, but I had hoped the book would provide more of what it used to be, alas, no.

A fascinating tale of the mansion -that is now the Cooper Hewitt Museum of Design-.and of the mind and philanthropy of Andrew Carnegie.This book should be read before taking a tour of the museum or at least purchased in the gift shop for reference while at the museum.It is inexpensive and a treasure to own Pauline Willis
