Hand Quilting with Alex Anderson: Six Projects for First-Time Hand Quilters (Quilting Basics S)

The media could not be loaded.  The print quality in this book is so blurry I should be returning it. The worse print quality that I have ever received in a booK that I purchased. I am old and the print is so blurry I will have to put on 2 pair of glasses to see the print on the pages. If you have vision problems, I suggest that you NOT purchase this book.

I like the content in the book, but the pages look like they were printed on a home printer. I’m giving three stars only because of the poor print quality for what is supposedly a new book purchase.

Hand quilting using your thumb for a different direction .. I have to learn this ... I also think I could learn to quilt with both hand since like Alex I am left handed ... that would make quilting in a frame much more flexible ... thanks the book and encouragement!

This is a great little inexpensive book to use as reference for anyone who want to learn to hand quilt. The illustrations are very good. Helps one know what you should be doing with your hands as you learn and practise the technique of hand quilting. I've been hand quilting for quite a while, and had been impressed with this book when I first saw it years ago in the quilting shop where I worked. Finally decided to find and buy it on Amazon, and have it available for new hand quilters, specifically my sisters.

Best small instruction book I've seen for quilters. Had never seen a book that addressed both instruction for both left and right hands. Basics for making a quilt also was well presented the illustrations were excellent.

The pictures and text got me started at something I'd believed was MUCH harder than it IS! I'm getting lots of practice on a twin-bed quilt for a granddaughter. Other remarks and suggestions in the text have been really helpful ... they have overcome some worries, and now I don't feel so alone and inept, because Alex Anderson writes about difficulties I had already discovered. Having a choice of where to wear a thimble, and coverage for both right-handed and left-handed people is GREAT!

This concise book is very handy for brushing up on hand quilting. I am getting back to hand quilting after not having done this work for over ten years. The writer/instructor is very clear and to the point. Thank you.

Nachdem ich bei Quilt-Büchern schon mehrfach reingefallen war, weil nicht das drin stand, was außen darauf beschrieben war, bin ich vorsichtig geworden. Dieses Buch war in einem Thread im Nähforum "Anne Liebler ist die Hobbyschneiderin" von einem Mitglied empfohlen worden. Und vom kleinen Preis mal ganz abgesehen bin ich nicht enttäuscht worden. Das Buch hält, was es verspricht.Die Autorin Alex Anderson ist wirklich eine Meisterin im Quilten und sie bringt das Thema sehr gut rüber.Im Buch beschreibt sie im Anfangsteil, wie Linkshänder bzw. Rechtshänder quilten sollten. Dabei beschreibt sie auch, wie man mit dem Daumen oder dem Zeigefinger quiltet, wie man Knoten verschwinden lässt usw. usf..Weiterhin stellt sie im Mittelteil verschiedene Patchworkprojekte vor, die dann gequiltet werden. Die Quiltmuster sind im hinteren Teil des Buches vorgestellt und man kann sie sich abkopieren.Das Buch ist rundum gelungen und macht so richtig Lust auf Patchwork bzw. das Handquilten UND Englisch lernt man obendrein, da das Buch in Englisch ist ;o}Viele Grüße
