Let it grow, let it grow!
It was time to do something about my male pattern baldness so when I went to my dermatologist to discuss it, he recommended I start using minoxidil (commonly know as Rogaine) Once you start using minoxidil to treat your hair, you have to continue to use it or else the gains you made will revert back to its original state. Since retail minoxidil isn't exactly cheap, I was surprised to find this version at such a cost effective price. I was skeptical that it wouldn't work as effectively as the name brand but, I was willing to give it a shot. The foam version is the preferred formula because it easier to apply. You just point the nozzle directly down and spray a little less than a capful out, massage into the trouble area and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. Don't expect results over night (hair grows slow) I started in February and I'm about half way through my six month supply. In that time, I have felt new hair growth and seen more darker hairs than I've observed in many years. I'm using this in combination with a shampoo that contains ketoconazole to maximize my results. I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far and when I finish this supply, I plan to reorder this brand. I will also post another update at the six month mark so you can track my progress along with me. I give it two thumbs up and I wish you good luck on your hair regrowth journey!Pros:Very affordable cost compared to the name brand productFoam version is easier to applyEffective at treating male pattern baldness (slowly, results may vary)Cons:none

Seriously seems to be working.
I have never had really thick hair, but did at least have a full head of hair. One year while on vacation, my wife snapped a photo of myself and one of my daughters while I was kneeling and she was looking down at me. I couldn't believe how thin my head of hair had gotten on top and even the bald spot in the back of my head. I was quite embarrassed. Not long after that, I heard that keeping your hair shorter gave the appearance of thicker hair. I started buzzing it pretty short, then shorter, and eventually just shaved my head. Months later, a friend of mind and I were talking about hair loss. He has alopecia which causes hair loss as well. He receives treatment to regrow hair. Long story short, he recommended that I try minoxidil.I purchased a 6 month supply and began using it, all while still shaving my head. I figured that I would at least see the new growth and that the male pattern baldness line would slowly disappear. This was not the case for about 2-3 months, so my use became sporadic. Around July, I decided to stop shaving my head, and continue use of this product. Much to my amazement, as my hair grew, I could feel new growth when I would "massage" my scalp. I seriously no longer have the bald spot on the back of my head, and my hair is much thicker than before I started shaving my head. I wish I had before and after pictures (but I made my wife delete the one because of my embarrassment). For me, this product works and it is so much more affordable than the name brand product. Save money and try this one first.

More user-friendly then liquid Minoxidil
I've used minoxidil for many years, but this was my first experience with the foam. I disliked the liquid so much that I seriously considered quitting minoxidil altogether. The liquid is oily, sticky, heavy and discolors my hair where it's applied. Although the instructions usually say to leave it on all day, it was so bad that I'd only wear it before taking a morning shower. In the evening, I'd reapply it before bedtime, and if I went to bed without giving it a couple of hours of drying time first, then it would end up on my pillow cases. I had the same experience using many different brands and I hated it, but it did work. This foam is much lighter and dries almost immediately. Not surprisingly, it's still a little oily, but nowhere as bad as the liquid, and I haven't noticed any discoloration. All this has me a little concerned that it doesn't work as well, and since I've only used it for a month now, I'm still not quite sure, but so far it seems to be working fine. It's worth noting that it is not a mousse and has no styling ability to hold your hair in place, but it would probably work better then the liquid with a mousse, since it's lighter and dries so much faster. So far, I haven't had any problems with the bottles dispensing the product or not having enough in them. The cap has an annoying child-proof mechanism on it, so I just leave it off. The instructions give the original advice on applying it to the crown only, but I've always thought minoxidil works better by covering the entire balding area. This requires more product with the liquid and the foam.I won't be fully satisfied until I'm confident it's working as well as the liquid, but so far I'm liking it much better. Mostly that's because it's easier to use and not nearly as nasty as the liquid. My reason for waiting so long to try the foam is because I couldn't justify the price difference, and while I only paid a little more for this product, I see it's already gone up considerably, so this could be my first and last experience with it.
