What is the Drimark Tri-Test Pen used for?

Used to detect counterfeit currency. It combines three counterfeit detection methods in one device: a UV light for security features, a white light for watermark inspection, and a counterfeit detector pen that chemically tests the paper.

What do I look for using the UV light on the Tri-Test?

The UV light reveals the embedded security thread in U.S. bills ($5 and up). Each denomination glows a different color and appears in a specific location on the bill. For example, a $20 bill will show a green glow in a specific vertical strip.

Can I use the Tri-Test on non-U.S. currency?

It is primarily designed for U.S. currency and its specific security features. While the UV light might reveal some features on foreign currency, the pen and watermark light are unlikely to be effective outside the U.S.

How accurate is the Tri-Test?

The Tri-Test is highly reliable for quick screening but not foolproof. It's a first line of defense that detects most common counterfeits.

How do I use the white light feature on the Tri-Test?

The white LED light helps you inspect watermarks and microprinting on U.S. currency. Hold the bill up to the light to check for the watermark image (usually a replica of the portrait) and verify the presence and clarity of tiny printed details.
