I bought this for my animal lover daughter. She reads it regularly and tells me lots of interesting facts.

A thoroughly enjoyable read, very detailed and comprehensive! This is the sort of thing every primary school in the UK should cover instead of some of the pointless things they learn these days.

Excellent book, full of photos and descriptions of all creatures great and small. The kid will love this.

Suitable present for grandkids 7+

Disappointed to find that this is far from a complete guide, I have the RSPB guide to British birds and I have found the illustrations sadly lacking so recently I was unable to identify a bird I had spotted. When I looked it up on the Web and saw an actual photograph I was able to the illustration in the RSPB of the same bird looked completely different. I therefore decided to buy another book that I could keep at home as a reference and the fact that this claimed to be a complete guide to Animals and fish as well as birds I bought it. It claims to show British birds so one would assume it would show the same species (of birds) as per the RSPB book of British birds but no, it sadly lacks several species (there could be more I haven't looked that well yet) Examples that are missing: Short-eared owl; Long-eared Owl, Wheatear. Also I was expecting photographs but to be fair it doesn't say photographs of the species so I can't really complain on that score. Hence my 3 star review. I would also like to say that yet again Amazon delivery was its usual below par but I don't think it's fair to score an item low simply because of Amazon's failings so although I mention it my 3 star review is based on the book only.
