CASIO Oceanus GPS Hybrid Men’s Solar Radio-controlled Watch OCW-G1000-1AJF

As other reviewers have noted the manual leaves a lot to be desired. It took some experimenting to figure out how to get the world time to reflect the desired time zone. The initial time and location sync also took an unexpectedly long time, but the manual does explain that the initial sync might take longer due to downloading leap second data. The first night is the only time it didn't correctly update with atomic clock RF data, but the GPS feature makes it super easy to just refresh the following day. None of my RF watches will update manually unless it's the middle of the night, so it's nice to be able to refresh during the day, although you do need to be outside for the GPS feature to work. Since that first night, the RF update has worked every time, and I've had much better performance with my Casio watches than my Citizen watch. The watch itself is super light for its size due to the titanium construction. The lightness almost makes it feel cheap, since I've become accustomed to steel watches, but fit and finish are superb. The other common complaint is the difficulty in sizing the band because it only has half-links rather than a micro-adjustment on the clasp. I managed to get a perfect fit with this watch, unlike some of my other half-link bands that are almost always either too tight or too loose. For some reason, this one fits perfectly. Shipping will take longer since you can only get this watch as an import, but it's worth the wait.

Horribly complicated and getting customer support is really difficult.

The watch itself is attractive and well made. It functions as advertised and performs all of it's GPS/Radio time keeping functions. No complaints about that. The band, on the other hand is terrible. When you go to remove links be prepared to find and re-install the tiny little retaining sleeves. They will fall out every single time a pin is removed. If it leaves the table and hits the floor you'll never find it again. That was problem enough, but to make the bracelet even worse, it has NO MICRO-ADJUSTMENT in the latch that would allow you to fine tune the length between full link steps. Even a $50 Timex has that. Really? The top of the Casio watch has no micro-adjustment to fine tune bracelet length between full link removals? It's either TOO LOOSE or TOO TIGHT. On a watch this expensive??? I shouldn't have to locate a replacement band for this watch. Terrible job Casio. It's the last Casio I'll ever buy.

I ordered this watch on July 28, 2015 and the scheduled delivery dates were August 24-Sept 14, 2015. Since I live in California and the watch was coming from Japan (having to go through Export and then Import into the U.S.A.) I figured it would take that long to get to me. Surprise!!! It arrived at my front door six (6) days later on August 3rd! Needless to say that made me very happy. I am now figuring out the watch, but so far it has met my expectations and then some. Upon receiving it I stepped outside and did an immediate GPS Time and Location to set the time zone and time. That went flawlessly in just a few minutes. Since then, it's been automatically setting itself to the atomic clock in Colorado (technically I'm outside of the 600 mile range for this atomic clock). My prior watch was also a Casio and set about 50% of the time by the Colorado atomic clock. They have obviously improved on the antenna and receiver as it has, so far, set itself automatically every night since August 3.Sept. 5, 2015 - ADDITIONALLY, unlike one of the other reviewers, I find the band to be exceptional. I had no problem shortening the band by removing one link and being titanium it and the watch are extremely lightweight.

Delivery was lightening fast, 5 calendar days from order date. The watch is just as spectacular in quality and finish as what is advertised. Watch setup calibration was 2 minutes from hitting the calibrate button outside. Everything works as promoted. Watch bracelet was professionally sized, works and looks like a champ. A local in-state store was charging $2K for the same watch, so this is really an outstanding deal. Thanks Premium Japan, you guys did awesome!

I did not buy this one over Amazon. But my review goes here: I had the much less expensive casio lineage for 5 years. And I was so impressed that I was looking for an even better model that could scope with GPS. Citizen, Seiko have also this kind of watch but the beauty of the casio and my very good experiences with the lineage made my decision clear. And it was the absolute right decision! The receiving of the radio signals is much faster than with the lineage before. The GPS receiving is also very fast. The watch goes into a sleep mode if it's dark. The dial is a beauty on its own. As I am a Swiss guy I can judge it ☺️. I would go this far and say it is superior to a Rolex dial. In the sun it is sparkling. The glass gives somehow the impression of depth. Probably the idea of 'oceanus'. If you are looking for a robust, reliable, beautiful and most accurate time piece - go for it!

I purchased this watch from a Japan dealer and had to wait only 5 days to get it. This watch is excellent because it has two ways to keep itself adjusted in perfect time keeping. The first method is using radio waves to receive at night the correct time from stations that have atomic clocks which are very exact. The second way is by communicating with satellites which is a fantastic option when you find yourself in areas that do not receive the atomic transmissions or when you travel. If you travel from New York to London once you arrive in London you press the satellite receive button and in 3 minutes you have the watch recognize you are in London and adjusts the time and day accordingly. The other nice thing about this watch is that it has a smaller dial where you can keep up with the time in another city. As far as the looks of the watch it is absolutely elegant and the titanium feels so nice to the touch and wear.
