Techni Mobili Sharper Image Foldable Cooling Laptop Table (RTA-SI2010)

I bought this even with the somewhat shoddy reviews its received, but they are not true! This has locks to keep the legs in the open position, very stable, and the legs click into place when you fold them back up underneath, although not quite as sturdy as the locks to keep the legs open, it works rather nicely, YES, it is plastic, but I don't see ever having a problem with it, it feels well made, especially when you fold it all up nice and neat and hide it away somewhere. There is nothing to keep it in the flat unfolded position, but thats fixed simply by angling the stand slightly up, it will not fold up when the stand is tilted! I have a 15" Macbook Pro, and it is flirting with the upper edge of being too big for the stand, defiantly meant for a smaller notebook, would not recommend for use with a heavy duty gaming laptop. but its so darn convent that I don't mind the size at all, I still have access to the cup holder and mouse pad, so I'm happy. Note of warning though, when using the USB fans that are built in, they work off of your laptops usb power supply, if you have other usb powered devices, such as an internet card or a hard drive, they might not work because the fan is drawing off too much of the power, I don't see it being a problem with thumb drives though, although I have not tried them. Still, excellent product, and fast shipping!

The product is not very sturdy. It was made with the quality of the price so I guess it is fair. The legs do come out and hold up my laptop but it can be a little shaky at times. Also note that the fan cannot be operated unless the legs are pulled out with the lift up. This makes it impossible to use this flat surface as a flat surface when attempting to operate the fan in a seated position. There is no point of the fan being in the device because you cannot use it.

Just got this table for my wife's Dell 15R laptop and it's barely a fit. I thought it would be a little more sturdy being a Sharper Image product. Dual fans and USB hub seem to function properly however I have already noted two major problem areas. When the table is flat with the main panel raised ( a must to expose the USB hub ) the four legs just dangle with no way to lock them down. Perhaps the most drastic flaw is that the retaining clips that are designed to keep the laptop from slipping down when tilted are so short that I can't even imagine what they were designed to hold up - perhaps a small tablet but certainly not a laptop of any appreciable size. I have had to jury rig some large pinch clips to the units existing clips to make it hold up the laptop. Not a pretty sight and barely functional. What can you do?? Tablets, maybe - 15, 17, 19 laptops beware!

I was needing a tray to use while I am sitting in bed on my computer. I was a little leary about ordering this laptop table given some of the reviews about it being flimsy. However when it arrived I was very pleased with the quality. The legs seem to be an issue in a lot of the reviews but they work fine for me. I keep them set at the second extension level and I haven't had any problem with them. They also have locks on the legs to keep them from folding under and collapsing the table. The only reason you would have a problem with the legs is if you acidently kick them or hit them on something while moving the table. I could see how that would break one of them off. The table is a decent size as well. I have a 17 inch Dell laptop that I use on it. The table is made for a 15 inch but a 17 will fit if you position it to hang over the mouse pad about an inch. I still have plenty of room to use a mouse on the pad. I gave it 4 stars for two reasons. One is that the fan is made to use when you tilt the tray. The USB port for the fan is on the inside edge of the tilt tray. The port is inexcessible when in the down position. I did get it to work in the down position by making a couple of modifications to the tray but it is not designed this way and I am sure it voids any warranty you might have on it. The fan is fairly quite though and does keep my laptop much cooler. The second issue I ran into is the useless cup holder. There is no way that thing will hold a cup. I wouldn't even attemp it given any small bump to the tray will send your beverage flying into the expensive laptop right next to it. Overall it is well worth the money and I am glad I purchased it.

I seldom leave reviews on products, but this one deserves some positive comments. I have been looking for a laptop table. I use a laptop at least four hours a day, and just hated having it resting on my legs. As I searched for stands, all the reviews on other products were negative. I finally chose this one partly because it was a name brand, and partly because of the cooling fan feature. I also liked the fact that it could fold. I have not been disappointed! It is solid, and holds up my laptop without any strain or difficulty. One point that I think would be helpful to others, is to note that the unfolded size of the table is twice the size listed in the description (the dimensions in the listing are the folded size). It is actually 24" wide when unfolded. Also, another great positive, the fan is very, very quiet! The mouse pad is textured, and great for placing a pad of paper or pen. It was very easy to set up, and I was using it within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box. Very easy to fold up for traveling. I would recommend this!

I just received this product today. My laptop heats up a lot and I use it a lot in bed or on the couch to do work. I thought this would be the perfect solution but unfortunately it has some design flaws. The lip that holds the laptop is not big enough and so my laptop just slips down anyways. You can only use the USB ports when the incline is up. When you unfold the table there is no locking mechanism to keep the table from folding again. The part where the laptop sits needs a non-slip surface. I really hate sending products back so I will probably try to alter it a bit to try and make it work for me. Such as putting on a few strips of non-slip material on the part where the laptop sits and figuring out a way to extend the lip to actually hold my laptop. The positive things are there is a place to use the mouse and the fans work great. Update 7/2013 I have had a chance to give this product a try for a few months now. I am disappointed with it. I attached strips of velcro to my laptop and the tray so it would not slip and I would not have to use the lip. It worked for a short time but after removing the laptop a few times the velcro came off and needs a reapplication or a new solution. One of the legs locking piece will not stay locked and keeps collapsing. The cup holder does not hold any cups but oddly is perfect for a beer bottle. I am changing this from 3 stars to 2 stars.

Though at first I felt this table is a bit delicate, it has withstood the moderate torture and has proved to be durable. It has got many settings and is very useful for working on it. I would definitely recommend it for the price it is available. Moreover it is shipped with 2 years warranty which is pretty cool.

The worst thing about this foldable cooling table is that does not lock into place. When you open it, it never stays fully open. I bought this for my wife so she can be on her computer comfortable from the couch, this does not solve that purpose. The legs are wide angled so it doesn't even fit on our (deep) couch. It would only work on the floor (or a table), even then it is too high to be useful. The build seems extremely cheap and comes with an ancient usb 1.0 connection (pointless). It also has very ugly colors. I hated this product and when I sent it back I had to pay shipping + a 30% restocking fee even though the product and package had already been opened before I received it and it was in the exact same condition when I sent it back. Be careful who you purchase from. All in all I only got $4 back. I would have rather have smashed this garbage with a bat. $4 was not worth all the trouble.
