Extremely clear sound....great price...easy to use.
Let me start off with a resounding "OH YEAHHH" when it comes to this amplifier.I've used some other Boss products in the past and I've always been impressed with their product packaging and quality so I decided to try out their electronics. I am a very happy customer.I got this amp because I mistakenly purchased a smaller 4ch amplifier and realized that I needed a 5ch because I wanted to push 4 speakers + 1 sub with just one amp. I realize most people wire 2 amps for this but I think that is silly and hard on the battery. This amp works exactly as advertised. It's not small though! he he...but it's very easy to connect and configure. I have a modern deck that had 6 RCA outs for the 4 speakers and 2 subs which connected very easily to the amplifier. After running the speaker wire to all 4 speakers and subwoofer, I started tweaking with the gain and db dials and walla, I have instant LOUD audio that does not clip. There isn't too much to say about an amp because they are more like an appliance these days. The cross-over is easy and well documented with the paperwork. Connecting this amp to a 4ch with bridging or 5ch with sub is easy and very effective for that sound you want.Mainly, I wanted to get more bass with my audio. This amplifier did exactly that. I'm running a 12" cabinet. The default pot setting for ch5 was too low so originally the output for the sub was non-existent but after fiddling with the settings in the back....WOW....I'm very, very satisfied. The bass is exactly what I wanted. The best part is that it has a remote bass dial that you can wire that gives you direct control to the bass level w/o compromising the output of the other 4 channels. I love this feature. You might think you won't need it but once you have it, you'll wonder how you do without it. A lot of my music is mixed differently so I'm always fiddling with the bass notes to get it right. Having a direct dial access to the amplifier exclusive to the bass channel is a MUST!PRO's: - Clean and LOUD signal to 4 independent channels with adjustments for gain and db sensitivity. - easy connections and logical settings for layout. Allows for hi and low inputs. (wire or RCA) - several bridge modes for those that want to pack more punch across the multiple channels. - 5ch mode is VERY practical, giving power to 4 speakers (down to 2ohms) *AND* a subwoofer. - Independent control per channel for gain, decibel adjustments as well 4ch or 5ch mode. - Made with METAL. ZERO plastics on this thing. It's a bomber in disguise. - Decent "quick start" guide allows for easy installation. Not ideal for beginners thoughCON's: - BIG! This thing is huge. Most people that like to mount their amp vertically will be challenged to find space for it. I laid mine down on the trunk floor towards the back seats. Will NOT fit under any normal bucket seat. - Product manual is very thin. It covers the basics with diagrams but lacks any coverage of the gain controls as well as the db adjustments, etc. It would be nice for those features to be explained a little more. The CONS are not enough to warrant 4 stars. I'm very happy about this purchase and think that this will last many years. Fingers crossed!

Great Amplifier
I picked this Amplifier up as a Christmas gift for my son. I have to say that the photos do not do it justice. The size and weight remind me of the Orion and PPI amps of the 80/90s. If you are looking to put this beast in a tight space, better think again! I was a bit skeptical at first of going with Boss audio, but after about 3 weeks of use, I feel like we made a good decision. Anybody that feels that Boss audio is a mediocre “budget” brand should think again.Installation was fairly easy and it fit in the location we chose for it nicely. Did I mention it is big? After setting the crossover and output levels, we ran a wave track to break in the subwoofer. After several hours on the break in track, we installed the sub and fired the system up. There wasn’t any detectable hiss, popping or noise. Balance between the 4 channels and the subwoofer channel was good and the bass control gave good adjustability between all of the different music types. After a week of use, I gave everything a listen again. At low to medium sound levels the amp did a fantastic job. At high sound levels however, the bass notes seemed a little muddy and hard to adjust for. There was also audible distortion. I suspect that the built in crossover likely has a 12db roll off and their is a fair amount of frequency overlap between the high pass and low pass frequencies. The overlap could have lead to a bit of distortion at high sound levels. Installing a standalone 3 way crossover took care of the issue and the system now rocks with authority!Good:1. Looks and styling are fantastic.2. Clean and noise free power.3. Good power balance between sub channel and rest of the system.4. Flexible power modes to fit any users needs.5. 6 Year warranty!! You heard me! 6 years!!Bad:1. Heavy! Very heavy!2. What’s with the 1800 Watts Max??!!3. Built in crossover isn’t as accurate as it should be.4. 600 - 700 Watts RMS power (as tested) Is a letdown considering the sheer size and weight of the amplifier.Overall I think that the CX1800 is a great buy and a hidden gem if you are on a small budget. Bad notes aside I definitely recommend it!

Great sound, great looks & straightforward install.
Powers 4 speakers and sub. Install was straightforward, i did not read a single line in the instructions and was able to install without issue. Just common sense.Plus this unit looks awesome. So much easier powering the whole system with one amp. No need to run a single channel for the amp. This replaced the entire overthought 27 year old factory bose gold setup in my c4 corvette.Bass boost controller seems to be ineffective but I'm not an audio guy and haven't had time to tune the amp yet, it's not my daily driver.Even if the boost doesnt work it serves my needs perfectly and looks great doing so, would buy again.

good bad and the ugly
the ugly is that I have lost all floor space in my pickup (although there wasn't much to begin with). The bad is that it is sent with really no instructions on how to set this beast up. I was able to finally figure out how I was going to wire it after about 10+ minutes diagramming the layout. The good is that it is well worth the money spent although I have upgraded from a 400 watt boss amp of the same family I am pleased with the quality of this product. You can tell it is rugged and good for a beating where as other amp.s out there are made of plastic. This one is made of a good quality metal surround. the audio that this thing produces is clean and crisp. I installed this my self with a 4ga wire setup and 16ga speaker wire. I am running a stock alternator on my 1991 Chevrolet S-10 and not having any loss of power or extra revs at idle. This is a great product. Boss has done it again! It deserves six stars in my opinion!
