Fantastic resource for those who are not satisfied with the American medical approach to treating tics
This is a great book that I highly recommend to parents who have children with tics. As someone who was dissatisfied with the doctors' advice that "tics are hereditary, there's nothing you can do, take these drugs, go away" this book really helped me explore alternative ways to help my 6-year-old. (He did try clonodine and had bad side effects, so we stopped it after 11 days.) This book led us to a gluten-free/dairy-free diet, some testing that turned up high levels of yeast and bad gut bacteria, and a doctor accredited through the American Academy of Environmental Medicine who was able to tailor a plan to help him that included supplements and naturalistic approaches. We are very pleased with his progress 8 months after the purchase of this book. This book helped to narrow my focus and provided a place where lots of strategies are condensed and presented together instead of the yawning, overwhelming chasm of the entire internet!

Great book of resources!
My 10yo started showing signs of Tourette's Syndrome and we got this book to get us started in some direction. I love that it's alternative and mostly non-medicated advice/guidance. If you need medication, just see a dr. If you want alternative options that are sometimes just as or even more effective - read this. We implemented several approaches outlined in this book and our son is doing AMAZING.

Very comprehensive overview.
I am just getting started on this journey of learning about Tourette’s, and this was a great place to start. This book is well written and easy to read. I am now working to find a practitioner to help. I will consult the websites listed in the book and search on latitudes.org for more references. Many years ago we had success helping my older son with some behavioral issues by utilizing many of the approaches outlined in this book, namely removing gluten and using nystatin under the direction of a qualified practitioner (who has retired).

A good starting place to understand triggers
This book has been helpful suggesting possible triggers for tics and TS. It also gave us new solutions to explore. What helped most was reading about other families who’ve nearly eliminated symptoms—that gives us so much hope! Tic disorder can feel overwhelming to kids. This book gave us encouragement that things can change. We are still in process of discovering triggers, but it’s nice having suggestions and encouragement along the way.

A must for those learning about tic disorders.
This book is a wonderful start for anyone who has a tic disorder or whose family member has a tic disorder. I think every person should listen to the advice in this book before turning to synthetics medications. It helped me identify my son's triggers and find ways of eliminating them. I would have liked some more detail in some areas, but I guess the book would have been twice its existing size. Still, it is a great buy which helped me understand this mysterious condition.

Great resource- lots of helpful information
Still working through this book, but it is full of great information, and it is balanced. Over and over the author stresses that what works for one person may not work for another. So glad I found it and bought it.

eye opening and EXCELLENT book
my son who is 5 and extremely healthy started to exhibit extreme neck tics out of NO WHERE. looking back he did have a brief eye tic that went away for a few weeks the year before. However his neck and face tics came on fast and furious out of no where. my son has always been extremely well behaved, great concentration level, great socially and this really was scary. we took him to a neurologist and his pediatrician who were useless. said they knew nothing about tics (no one does in the medical community) and that they grow out of them and not much they can do. if it becomes severe they would then treat it with SERIOUS drugs (not anything i was going to do). i've always been interested in natural remedies and grew up on them. i read this book and it was FASCINATING to hear about how some of things these can be fixed with a simple diet. so that is what we tried first. i realized our son although a healthy eater ate way too much surgar and snacks - not enough real food. he had just started kindergarden and we packed his lunch - so he was getting a lot of snacky food. we cut down the snacks, sugar - - starting pushing more veggies and fruit and kale and greens. then put him on fish oil (1 tab and a half a day) and a supplement for kelp. we did see a naturopath and this was recommended. his face tics when away IMMEDIALTEY along with the neck. literally instead of doing a tic every 30 seconds all day long - he does one once a day or not at all. i did run out of fish oil as the brand i liked was on back order. he stopped and guess what - the tics came back. not as bad but just more often (more like five times a day). he's back on the fish oil and poof gone again. he still does them occasionally like maybe once a week or every other day - so we're going to see a allergist. but i SWEAR by this book. for all you nay sayers. JUST STOP! just try some simple recommendations and you will see it works. The medical community makes WAY TO MUCH MONEY off drugs so ofcourse they think this is all crap cause they have a lot to loose. drugs stop the symptoms not the underlying problem. these remedies and supplement get a the root cause. a TIC just means something is off - but i swear it can be fixed.

Essential reading for anyone with an interest in Tics & Tourette's. Has opened my eyes to causes and triggers. I feel confident that I'll be able to understand my child's anxieties with more sympathy and try to avoid the triggers in future.

We are really thankful
We have started investigation to rule out possible causes for tics based on the information provided by this book, rather than medicating the symptoms.

A must read for anyone who suffers from Tourette's or tics. Many suggestions on how to minimize the use of anti-psychotics which is often prescribed by doctors.

Great Book for Families Having a Child Diagnosed With This Dysorder
This is the book our family has been looking for to gain the insights needed in dealing with a child who has been diagnosed with the topic area covered in this book. Not much more to said other than provides good insights and strategies for those parents who know that big pharma solutions are dangerous with significant side effects that go unsaid. Welcome addition to the family self help guides on this topic area.
