Does This Seller KNOW That This Looks Brand New...?
Samsung HT-HM55 - 5.1 Channel 3D Blu-Ray Home Theater System (Certified Refurbished) The description states that this is refurbished.Looks BRAND NEW to me.Very easy to install and setup. Love the color-coded plugs for the speaker and sub.Cables are plenty long enough unless you have a really large area. To those that have mentioned the cable length, if you do not know how to splice a cable / wire, then you really shouldn't be hoking up ANY sort of home entertainment system. We have this connected to our 55" LG 1080p @ 240 Htz and it works flawlessly. The TV uses the old-styled Red & While RCA connection for it's sound while the Optical input is connected to our HTPCCouldn't be happier with our purchase.

Working well.
Bought to replace an older version Samsung. This one has been working well since setup. The audio is satisfactory.

Money well spent.
First off, keep in mind that this is a refurbished piece of equipment. Some people have had complaints, and even called this system "rubbish," but they don't understand that they could potentially be getting something that was returned, and had maintenance done on it for a reason. I'm very pleased with what I got, for such a small monetary sacrifice. Although I know that I would love to have dropped two or three thousand dollars into a surround sound system, this was the solution for me -- not having the finances to truly spoil my ears. Everything has been operating as it should (all wires, speakers, and the main unit), and the appearance out of the box is almost brand spankin' new. Don't expect to have an earth-shattering, mind-blowing movie experience with this system. It does do it's job, and it is nice to not have to rely on cheesy flat-screen speakers anymore, but this is a lower end surround sound system. One con: no HDMI inputs. I was surprised to see that they only provide an HDMI-out.

System has potential but q.c issues lead me to request RMA same day received
This was an unpleasant surprise. Samsung is a solid brand and I don't believe that refurbished means crap. However, what I considered a long process to neatly wire and properly connect this system turned out to be a waste of time. My first problem with this system was that there were features advertised that weren’t actually available. The amazon product description says: "Experience all your favorite DVD and Bluray titles as well as SMART content like web browsing..." I expected an actual web browser and there is not one to be found. Because I saw a pamphlet that stated I should update the system, and the system said to update it when I turned it on, I figured, maybe I need to update the system and I’ll have access to a web browser and few more loaded apps. WRONG!! I do the update, and not only did I not have a browser feature, but the update deleted about 3 preloaded apps.OK I thought, let’s just worry about the web browser tomorrow and enjoy a bluray with this lovely 5.1 setup. I only hooked up the front 3 and the sub to start. I mean the sound was the main reason I got the thing right. Once I turned a movie on though, my living room sounded like a trunk on a low rider. The speaker working was the sub. I tried checking connections, at the system and the speakers. I tried switching the plugs to other ports to see if it was the port and not the speakers. I reset the whole system back to factory settings. I raised the db in the audio settings. I turned the volume up very high and all I got was booming base and muddy sounding voices playing though the sub. I eventually gave up on it figuring I got a lemon and put in for an RMA.The next morning when I went to unplug everything and repackage the thing, I decided to see what would happen when if I switched terminals put + to – and – to +. OH MY!!! The speakers started to work, at least the center and right channel. It seems that the wires that run from the system to the speakers were wired incorrectly. The left channel began to work, but it wasn’t an issue of the wire being assembled wrong, but the connection being very sensitive. In the end I was impressed with the way the system sounded, while playing “Sucker Punch,” however, I still am going to send the system back, because I’m concerned about other problems I may have regarding the functionality of a system that has shown assembly issues out the box. Before you question my ability to read directions or connect speakers, I built my own computer and owned a vintage component stereo system with Technics receiver and KEF Speakers, that I upgraded wiring to monster braided high current thick wiring.I hope I'm the only one to have this experience. I was really looking forward to enjoying this system. I purchased an optical audio cable to connect my tv to the system and a wireless keyboard to browse the net from my couch. Now, because I have to find a suitable replacement, they may be sitting for a week or so.

Was not happy with this product. Even though the system is refurbished I would it to work. The subwoofer would not work and when I tried to contact someone concerning the problem I was told that the order number that I gave them did not exist. I'm still upset about the situation because to buy just the subwoofer would almost cost what I paid for the whole system!!! I gave it one star because the system did work, but what's surround sound without the subwoofer!!!!!

Great bang for the buck
For the money, this system can't be beat. The sound is pretty good. If you're expecting the quality of a $1000.00 system, look elsewhere. This is lightweight stuff with 20 gauge speaker wire and mdf construction. The value though, is exceptional.

Works weird sometimes but it does work.
It comes on by itself sometimes. Also some times when we turn the tv on it will come on but not every time. We just say it has a mind of its own.
