Tang Soo Do: The Ultimate Guide to the Korean Martial Art

Really helpful
A great resource for the new practitioner of Tang Soo Do. This book has helped me to come back home after training at the dojo and practice. The book has really helped me advance at a quicker rate then just studio time alone. However if you want an in-depth study of Korean martial arts this isn't the book for you. The book provides a brief overview of the history of Tang Soo Do yet it is far from comprehensive or authoritative.

Not what I was completely looking for
Different presentation than what I had learned. Fairly easy to follow, but not what I was looking for.

R.I.P. to Grand Master Lee.
I received the book a couple days before the passing of Grand Master Kang Uk Lee, I am slowly reading the manual and I hope to take up lessons in Tang Soo Do next year. May continue to pass along the legacy of Tang Soo Do to the next generation in memory of Grand Master Lee.

Forms
This has all of the forms I learned even the ones that our specific dojang no longer technically practices. I love it and will cherish this because it’s helped me remember so much while retraining myself for my black belt.

Fundamental!
I love this book! It is my bible on forms. As a traditional Tang Soo Do practitioner, it is an invaluable resource for tweaking my forms and techniques so that I am consistent with the intent and execution that has been handed down by our founder, Hwang Kee. Grandmaster Lee is the oldest still-practicing Tang Soo Do master, trained directly by Hwang Kee. He still travels to member schools of the ITF-UK and hands down the powerful legacy of our art. PLUS, this book is extremely inexpensive when compared to other similar books. The author was not out to make a buck, but to continue the tradition of Tang Soo Do.

It is helping me to learn faster..
This book consists mostly of photographs of hand and foot techniques and of the forms. As a beginning student I find these very helpful, as when it comes time to practice at home I sometimes have forgotten the new things learned in the previous class. The verbal descriptions that go with the photos are clear. In addition, newer students will find the Korean/English, English/Korean glossary of terms helpful. The author has also included a brief (too brief) history of Tang Soo Do and a lineage chart, but for me these are not the strong points of the book. Also, I would have liked to see a little more about the philosophy behind this martial art; however, the photographic explanations of the moves make the book well worth the price.

Good book marred by a sub-par paperback edition
The content of the book itself would justify a 4.5 star review, but the paperback edition suffers from blurry text and pictures, aparently scanned directly in from the hardcover edition, and then shrunk down to fit the paperback editions dimensions. While it can still work as a reference, I would recommend getting the hardcover editon instead, if one can find it for a reasonable sum.I have attatched a picture of one the illustrations and descriptions in the book, which is illustrative of pretty much the entire book in terms of picture and text quality.

recommended
After being out of training for almost 10 years this book really helped me remember the hyungs. The pictures are easy to follow and it explains each move in depth. I would definitely recommend this.
