INCOMPLETE PACKAGE
The first one I bought had the 1 x STV612 Universal Mains Adaptor missing. I asked for a replacement stating the reason for return as missing adaptor. Have just received the replacement and guess what the mains adaptor is missing. So will be returning this one too. Hope third time lucky!!!!!

Solved the fox problem but the cat got wise
I had a real problem with the local foxes using my garden as a toilet, if I wanted large turds all over my lawn I'd keep a dog. Bought two of these to cover each end of the garden and the problem went almost overnight, just had to fine tune the positioning. Next door's cat appears to have worked it out though.

Outfox the foxes
Have this near the bins just in case as a friend spotted foxes in their garden. Haven't seen any signs of them so fingers crossed that means this is working well. Great to know this will deter them but do them no harm either.

Unsure
Best thing about this is that it has an off switch, so if you are gardening in that area, you can save the batteries. I did recently get another brand with sensitivity and frequency adjustments, which did see off the cats. However that one upset the indoor hamsters when I inserted the batteries. This brand did not. The outdoor rabbits had a rather quizzical look when I took this outside but that was it. I don’t get foxes frequently, but we’ll see.

Product range poor
When I first set up the fox repeller I noticed that the arc was described on the packaging as 180 degrees but was obviously nowhere near that but on the set up instructions it said 80 degrees.I used 2 9v batteries as instructed and the range seemed to be about 8 meters not the 10 meters as advertised. For the 1st 10 days I had no evidence of fox activity then I had excrement for the next 3 days. I changed over to the mains socket as the range had been reduced to about 6 meters thinking the cold nights had reduced the battery power but this made no difference. Now the range on the unit is less than 4 meters even after wiping the sensor incase it was dirty. Overall the product has failed to do the task I bought it for and have now payed out for something else

Contains all you need for effective fox/cat repelling
This is the 3rd fox repeller we’ve used. So far, they’ve more or less done the job, drastically reducing the passage of cats and foxes through our garden, maybe even stopping them completely. From the evidence of droppings alone, the sonic repellers do actually work, at least in the area that was most important to us (no more digging in the flower beds). The first repeller we bought was battery operated, just to try it out. After it had chewed its way through a couple of packs of batteries in no time, I bought a different Defenders model, simply because I could plug it on to the mains (via optional adapter). Battery operated options use the batteries more quickly the more often the device is triggered, so if you’re looking to place one by a drive or any other area where people circulate a lot you should probably go mains powered off the bat. You can use battery ones in a far corner of your garden if you’re only there the weekend, but anywhere else just seems to kill the batteries. With battery models you might fail to notice the batteries are dead for a few days, especially if it is off the beaten track, so they’re not an ideal option unless you really have no access to a safe plug socket. We’re now expanding our area of protection to include our front garden as well as the back. The great thing about this pack is that it contains everything you need to get started. The power supply has a fairly long cable already, but the supplied extension is a great help when trying to get optimal placement of the device. The adjustable height spike is also handy for raising the repeller above low lying vegetation, which will trigger the ultrasonics if the wind blows it around in front of the detector.I’m not convinced by the LED ‘eyes’ on it - I find it hard to believe any animal would be convinced into thinking they’re eyes - but they’re a helpful indicator that it is powered on and working. Our 5 year old son complains about the sound of the repeller when playing in the garden, which means we’re constantly having to turn it off and on, but a timer socket can alleviate this without the risk of forgetting to turn the power on again in the evening (something battery models can’t do).All in all, very happy with this pack and with the results.

Defenders Mega-Sonic Fox Repeller
This is the worst sonic product I've ever bought. It did not work at all; instead the foxes and cats walked right past or pooped right next to it. You cannot adjust the volume and unlike products I've bought before, it did not even have a short period of time when it was new and did work efficiently.
