I had best results when I shaved my arm and cleaned it with alcohol before applying. I tried several brands and these stick the best. I like that they are clear with adhesive covering the entire patch. Other brands just have adhesive 1/4" around the outside and didn't stay on, even with tape. They will loosen or come off with sweat, so if your job entails getting sweaty or wet, patches of any kind aren't for you! I discovered these through my Medicare monthly OTC benefit. When I used up all my benefit $, I came to Amazon to get more! I used these for 3 months to get through no vaping due to dental implants. Because I used these instead of vaping, the implant warranty was not voided, and I healed up great. Nicotine intake through your mouth hampers healing and increases implant failure by 10%. For the $ I spent on implants, I wasn't about to play around with that risk. I had to use a 21 and a 14 at the same time, because I vape high nic e juice. But this did the job and took my cravings away enough that I could get by without vaping. They did cause some crazy dreams and sleepless nights, so after a week, I learned to put them on first thing in the morning and take them off at bedtime. They won't restick very well, so don't expect to stretch them out longer than a 18 hour day. I needed those fresh patches first thing in the morning. It was worth the price to help implant healing and not void the warranty on $27k dental implants!

These are much cheaper than Nicoderm, and the seem to work equally well. The actual pads are not as nice, less accurately made, lower quality in appearance. But way cheaper than the "name" brand.

Product works great

I'm not a smoker and cannot stand the smell of cigarette smoke. It gives me almost the same reaction as sugar crash: i start shaking, sweating and feeling nauseous. Oddly enough, when I go to EU, it doesn't bother me so I assume my reaction is to something else they use cigarettes in US. Based on some stories that nicotine helps with health in some ways, I decided to test that theory and ordered this brand. I cut the patch in four pieces and apply one, however, I wasn't doing it every day. Sometimes, I'd do it a few days in a row, and sometimes just twice in a week. What I noticed is that on days I use it, my energy is much better, I am more motivated to do things and I even tackle tasks I've put off for a year. There is not much of that feeling of dread, procrastination or anxiety present on days I use it, but I also consume very little sugar and carbs which also contribute to these issues. I didn't experience any highs or lows but my dreams are much more vivid, more detailed and I actually remember them the next day. The negative of this patch is that it doesn't always stay on. Any spot you touch with your bare fingers will not stick, which is usually corners, and the bigger piece you use, the less it sticks. Using 1/4 of the patch seems to stick better, but I did use a bandaid over it a few times to keep it in place. It might depend on the place you're applying it to, as well. I'm applying it on the inside side of my bicep. Overall, I'd buy it again.

UPDATE: I tried these patches again now that a year has passed. I use patches due to work and in general to avoid smelling like a smoker, and that’s been the case for nearly a decade. I’ve tried every patch available a number of times so thought I should give these another try. I’ve knocked the rating down on this patch from three stars to one. I know to apply patches to perfectly clean skin, and these no longer stick for more than a handful of hours. Even when they do stick, they fail to supply enough nicotine. Again, I’ve been using patches for a decade. I know the difference between good, effective patches and fails like this. I’ve needed to replace them after 8 hours, compensate for the inadequate function with lozenges, and deal with them as an utter nuisance instead of the help they were supposed to provide. The only reason I gave them one star is that it’s the minimum requirement when reviewing. Original review: I’ve been using patches for years now because I can’t smell like cigarettes at work, and I’ve tried nearly all brands over time. These are OK. The adhesion is good if I put them on about 15 minutes after a shower, especially if I make sure to thoroughly clean the area where I’ll be wearing them. If I scrub too hard the skin gets red and irritated by the patch. By thoroughly I mean going over it with a washcloth and plenty of soap plus a thorough rinse. If I make sure the skin is free of oil and soap residue these patches hold relatively well. These patches are more matte instead of shiny and they're generally transparent. They’re not as easy to spot as other patches. These don’t seem consistent in dosing. I get a surge for an hour or two and then it tapers off over the next few hours. That’s why I gave these patches 3 stars. I would prefer a sustained and more even delivery. The best patch is one I don’t need to think about or notice because it’s doing its job quietly in the background.
