Minimum height with hose outlet turned sideways is 2 inches, without the angled base. The height with the included angle base (lowers the suction head) is 2 1/2 inches, or 1/2" more with the angle base. Good enough for our Sailboat, below the floor boards. If you don't have 2 inches, get the 500 GPM, like the one we replaced after 8 years, which had started squeaking.

Installing this thing in my engine sump under the engine in my sailboat was a chore but it works great and sucks nearly all the water out if installed at the proper angle. It took me a couple times to get it right using only one eye and three fingers.The one way valve worked better than expected and keeps the water from flowing back into the bilge. The auto function works flawlessly.

I have tried all the common types of bilge pumps and thought I would give this brand a try as I was having trouble getting enough lift in my deep keel sailboat. It did not work from the getgo. The automatic function did not work at all and with the 1/2" hose it could not lift water 3' to the outlet. I had to use the 3/8" to get it to pump at all. Then after a week or so it quit altogether. Won't even pump with no hose on it.

Compact size makes this ideal in bilge under engine. Automatic pump feature relies on sensor being vertical so make sure when placed it is totally upright.I would by again

This was a direct replacement for the bilge pump in our 2013 MasterCraft. Easy to install and exactly as expected.

My opinion is, as with almost all reviews, subjective but I strongly believe that this is one of the best bilge pumps you can buy. And.... it's good value for money.For those who don't know what it is used for: to pump water that comes into a boat via the propeller shaft out of that boat. When you grease the space between the shaft and the shaft channel properly, then not a lot of water should come in. The bilge is the area where the water is collected, the pump lays on the floor and will start pumping as soon as it detects water.
