Fun butter making kit!

The herb packet included is so over powering even the cinnamon sugar smells and tastes like it. We tossed the cinnamon sugar for that reason. Butter is easy to make with any jar that size and additions are available in nearly every kitchen. Save your money to purchase more cream and make more butter.

You have absolutely no reason to purchase this product. All you need to make butter: a jar, heavy cream, your hand, salt. Fill the jar just under halfway with cream. Put the lid on. Shake vigorously for roughly 30 minutes until the cream rapidly coagulates into butter. Pour out the buttermilk. Shake a bit more. Pour out the buttermilk. Shake a bit more. Pour out the buttermilk. Add some salt. Done.

I actually completely disagree with the the reviews written before me. Yes, you could certainly do what they suggested, but the point of this kit is that it makes a really cute gift, which is what I used it for. Certainly presenting a friend or family member with this kit is a lot nice then handing them an old jar and some milk and telling them to get to it. This kit is designed beautifully, and what I liked more about it was that it comes with a cute ramekin and butter spreader, which can be reused. The other great thing is that you actually use the container itself to shake the butter. I don't usually keep old glass jars around so this was definitely a bonus for me. I think the bottom line is that while many people do know how to make butter, it's fair to say that many people DO NOT know how to do it. And for those people- just give them this gift, and they will certainly love it!

I agree - this is not necessary and very expensive. You can use a clean jar for cheap! (If you add small clean ball bearings it makes the job go quicker.) Otherwise you can make butter in your blender.
