Bolst's Curry Powder Mild 3.5 oz

I was brought up in the far and middle East. My father as a young man was in the Indian Cavalry, when my husband and I were leaving for America I was upset because I could not find the spices, paste or curry powder in those days to make a decent curry. I called my father who was retired at that time and he reported to me that they army did not march with a cookie mashing spices to a paste. He told me to go to the nearest army barracks or Headquarters and ask the Quarter Master if I could obtain some curry powder. This I did and the Officer in charge gave me a case of Bolst"s curry powder, each can weighing 2 lbs, 24 cans in all. He told me to follow the directions carefully and I would have Northern Indian Punjabi curry which is dark brown not yellow like Madras. This case lasted me 20 years and I was delighted find out that I could get this curry from Amazon, I use both mild and hot depending on the dish I am making. I hope I am never without it, it is the best. RMA

Not always in stock, but when available it is my go to “quick curry powder”. It was recommended years ago by Madhur Jaffrey for quick curries; I order the mild and then can add a good quality chile powder to increase the heat when wanted.

I consider Bolst's Curry Powder (Mild) the most flavorful to my "Western" palate that I've tried. I've only tried Madras and McCormic brands though. We used to have a local Indian store we could purchase it from. Unfortunately they closed. So, I searched Amazon for a source. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is NOT because of the quality. I really should be docking myself stars for not noticing the SIZE of the container. Our local Indian store that closed carried the LARGER 14.99 oz can. The one I purchased through Amazon was only 3.5 oz can. BIG difference for someone that uses curry almost weekly. I used to buy the 14.99 oz for a few dollars more than the 3.5 oz can I purchased on Amazon. Just a word of caution to know there are two size cans. The product itself is fantastic.

This is my favorite curry powder and I use it exclusively.

Highway robbery for the size and price for this product. Perhaps will only get two servings of menal preparation with this. A total disgrace selling this for almost $12.00+

I cook a large amount of Indian/Pakistani dishes. I have used curry powder from all over the world and in the end, Bolsts always comes out on top as far as flavor goes. Yes it is a bit costly compared to other curry powder but it is most definitely worth it!!

Three stars (should be 2.5) averages my rating. 5 stars for the curry itself: I've used it for literally years and LOVE it. It's classic British curry, the perfect blend of savory spices, warm and rich, with no heat--you can add that yourself to taste. BUT 1 STAR for the vendor. Can of curry arrived two days ago: dented and with an expiration date of November 2016 (four months ago). This is a shame. The can is vacuum sealed (opened with a ring pull-top), fortunately, and still retains good aroma, but the vendor ("Dual Speciality, NYC") should be avoided.

This stuff is wonderful. A great curry powder, and difficult to find in the US. The mild seems to be great for Anglo-Indian foods.

expensive to buy from Italy, if you compare prices in UK and Australia, but still one of the best ones in the market

Grea tasting curry powder from a 90.year old company . Reminds one of Indo Anglian cooking flavours and lunches on a cold winter day in a colonial club. Do try this milder version and the hotter one too.

This curry powder has a really nice flavour, definitely better than any supermarket curry powders. It is extreeeeemely overpriced online though as a tin five times the size would cost half the price in the Indian shops in Slough or on any high street in a city with a diverse population. COVID is really doing a number on us with sellers hiking prices up 1000% on stuff we really want, like decent-quality curry powder. Sad times! But yeah - nice curry powder.

I'm a retired chef this is my go to powder. It's the real deal I use the mild version which is far from mild. It has wonderful flavours smell the tin when you open it, wonderful curry powder.
