B12 prevents memory loss in people with recent memory loss. Get ahead of it to be safe.
This vitamin prevents dementia in people without it in their blood. It has to be under the tongue or given by injection. It's mainly the dementia where people lose recent memory. My mother had it. She had no stomach acid and did not know about B12. When I had her checked a bit late she was 1 on a scale of about 1-1000 so she was literally missing B12. Just remember it HAS to get cirectly into blood stream, and under our tongues are many little blood vessels. Take it daily. Have blood checked for you level so you know how it changes. If everyone knew this and would get B12 into bodies we'd have a LOT less dementias (not talking about Alzheimer's here altho' it MAY be a help there too if taken early in life. I began in my late 40s. My mom and other women in her family got pernicious anemis (the memory loss thing) so it's genetic. I'm watching my levels. If I don't climb high enough I'll get someone at the clinic or hospital to inject me weekly or my son can do it. Mom brightened up a lot when given shots. Remember that the drugs for stomach acid (i.e., Prilosec et al.) can get one in serious trouble down the line as there's no acid in tummy and foods are not digested properly so remember not to take one of the drugs that is given "forever." Use for a week or so and then get off. Take it with folic acid and B6 in safe dosages and take in between meals. This is the best way to get it to the brain.

If you have B12 deficiency anemia and you are tired of getting a monthly shot, ask your doctor about these.
I have a B12 deficiency anemia caused by my thyroid. My doctor recommends the vegetarian, sublingual dots. I was getting this at a store in town. But when they stopped carrying them and substituted other brands, I couldn't find 1) one that was vegetarian, 2) the correct dosage (500 mg), or 3) sublingual dots. Quick and easy, I looked these up on Amazon. They were the right ones for the right price and a prime item, which was important since I would run out in 3 days.If you have B12 deficiency anemia and you are tired of getting a monthly shot, ask your doctor about these. They come in various dosages, this is the 500 mg. I know that when I had got them in town, they had 500 mg and 5000 mg. One of the 500 mg a day puts my B12 levels right were they need to be. Put it under your tongue. It absorbs in a minute. I use mine at bedtime, so I don't rinse the dot out before absorbing the B12. Supposed to be cherry flavored, but it is not exactly tasty. But since it is under the tongue, there are not a lot of tastebuds down there to be a problem.I'm not sure if it would work for pernicious anemia, although the 5000 mg might work. Need to talk to doctor and watch it carefully until you find the dosage you need.

I do believe these work for me...
Over the past year or so I've been feeling a lot more tired on a regular basis than I can ever remember being prior. It might be more demands at work, it might be having three little baby girls in diapers or it might just be that I'm getting old, but whatever the reason, I need something that's going to give me a boost from time to time...not just a caffeine boost either. It's under these circumstances that I first gave the Twin Lab B-12 Dots a shot, and for the most part, they do seem to provide what I was searching for. I basically just let one dissolve under my tongue (dissolves fairly well, although you might need to work it around slightly with your tongue) and then down it with whatever drink I have at hand. It has a pleasant cherry flavor, but it's rather light, not sweet or cloying. It doesn't give me any kind of "rush" that I'd get from caffeine in an energy drink or some workout drinks, but I definitely feel less tired when it kicks in. It's not night and day, but it definitely helps. Overall, I can't recommend Twin Lab;s B-12 Dots enough.

Definitely works if your body needs it
I don't know how well these would work if you're really healthy and eat well. I have two illnesses that have fatigue has one of the most bothersome symptoms. Taking 2 of these, am and pm, has taken the edge off the worst of it - I sometimes have really extreme fatigue and weakness, like having the flu. It hasn't improved me greatly (i'm going to continue to slowly increase it to see if a higher dosage will work even better) but enough so I can feel a small difference and, believe me, even a small difference is welcome. I also take omeprazole (generic prilosec I think) for chronic acid reflux, and recently read that these can lead to a depletion of B12, so that may also be contributing to my exhaustion. So I believe in this and will definitely continue to use it.

And yes it does work the same as a shot so I am happy. The first time I bought it I paid ...
I have had two re-section surgeries for Crohn's disease and was told after the last one that I had to have a B12 shot once a month because I can't absorb it naturally from food or vitamins. I did this for years and it was a pain and then I heard about the sublingal version and wondered if that could replace the monthly shot so I tried it. And yes it does work the same as a shot so I am happy. The first time I bought it I paid twice as much for lesser amount at health food store so I was very happy to see it available here at Amazon and such a good deal too.

EDIT: Why I switched to Jarrow
EDIT: Switched to Jarrow 500 mcg because it has b12 in methylcobalamin form which is better absorbed.liked Twin Lab B12, just feel Jarrow is better because of the form of B12, so that's what I take now._________________________________________I can feel the difference, trust the brand and while you aren't supposed to swallow, let melt under tongue, I crunch up a little so it dissolves faster under tongue.Oh, and GREAT PRICE!

Slow to dissolve
I did not know what to expect when I ordered "Dots" - which are small pills to dissolve in your mouth. It has a cotton fiber texture and the small inner core seems to need an assist by chewing. I just got them. I will use them up but do not love the texture or process over just swallowing a pill. Not awful, but surely an easier method. Maybe injections are preferable.
