It depends on the size of your child....if he is in the right age clothes for his age then the 8-10 year should be fine. The size from what I remember (was a while ago I ordered) came up just right, my son was 8 & in age 9-10 and it was perfect. He's always been in bigger clothes than his age but is skinny. It's a stretchy & well made material. Also be warned the helmet is only suitable for a bear or a doll...it is really small! (My son wouldn't wear it anyway because apparently Viking men didn't actually wear horned helmets....)
