Longevity
I have purchased 2 sets of these heaters. They work well for my usage. Out of the two sets one has lasted a year while the second one quit in a week or two. On the second purchase the same thing, one lasted a week and the other has been in for a few weeks now. I'm not sure if they can stay on all day or not. I have them in the back of my RV refrigerator when the temperature is below freezing. It does keep the coils from freezing on the RV refrigerator. Why only two of four have lasted more than a week is unknown to me.

86 Watt Bulb, NOT 50 watt
This heat lamp bulb seems to work and heats up the area in front of it very well. The bulb gets extremely hot, so be sure to use a lamp with a ceramic receptacle. The price is definitely a bargain if you are okay with waiting a while to receive the product as it ships from China...took almost a month to arrive from when I ordered it. I was fine with that. The one negative I have to share is that this is NOT a 50 watt bulb. I plugged the lamp into my Kill-o-watt meter and was surprised that it read 86 watts (and .7 amp), so I checked the 2nd bulb and it read the same. For my unique use, this is a significant issue. I'm using this to provide some heat in a small SUV converted to a camper and it runs off my solar system (using an inverter & battery). My system capacity could handle 50 watts without risk, but 86 watts pushes the limits of what I can run overnight without over discharging my battery. Perhaps this explains why it puts out more heat than I was expecting. For most users this probably won't matter, but if you using it for it's intended purpose make sure it doesn't actually heat your reptiles area too much before leaving it unattended.

The only reptiles in my house are in the freezer!
I was looking for a replacement for the low wattage light bulbs I use in my meat dryers. I make south African style jerky and dried sausage (Biltong and Droewors) and the ideal temperature is around 90F. The dryers have an extractor fan and holes around the base to vary air circulation and temperature. The problem with light bulbs is that they are not that efficient at producing heat, after all that's why they are called "light" bulbs and they will soon be banned in favor of LEDs and some CFCs. And they keep the house lit all night when the dryers are operating.I visited my local pet store looking for some sort of aquarium heater and came across these black heat lamps. They looked ideal for the job but were for sale at $33 each... Good bye Pet's **** and hello Amazon. I purchased two of these for around $14. They were a perfect solution. No extraneous light, rugged and they are a lower profile than light bulbs with less chance of touching the hanging sausage or meat strips. They resulted in the perfect temperature and the first batched with the reptile heater were perfect. I may even thaw out some frozen alligator and make some reptile jerky with my new reptile heaters...

Really like, but 1/2 was DOA
I really like this product and the price, but unfortunately one of the two bulbs didn’t work, it was blown when I got it. Had to run to a pet store and pay $23 for a different kind.

Small Heat Lamp
Small profile, don’t really know about longevity, but it seems to work well.

Decided to return them.
Both the bulbs ordered arrived covered in small cracks. I don't know if the cracks effect operation but I decided not to use them. I have only purchased one other large ceramic bulb elsewhere and to this day it does not have any cracks. Online people seemed to suggest they would not use heating bulbs that were cracked. I decided to issue a refund since both bulbs were cracked I figured the likelihood of getting a non-cracked replacement was small. My apologies if these types of cracks are normal for new bulbs.

Works great!!!
My baby turtle loves the heat lamp. He will sit under it for hours if I let him. I thought it would glow but it does not, it only distributes heat so I forget to turn it off. Guess I need to invest in a timer.

Puppy Palace Heat
My husband uses these emitters inside our dogs’ palace. These keep the house a comfy 50 degrees even when the temp is in the 20s.
