Decent movie
So. I wasn't as much of a fan when this first came out, but I'm more of a fan now when watching it in my adulthood. you get more personality out of the Autobots, more gritty emotions, and despite what some people say, they reactions are very reasonable considering how terrible the situation they are in has become. I'd say the human characters were decent, although this movie suffers from the same eye-rolling useless female character making life hard for people. Really no need to ad a damsel in distress to the mix when everyone already had plenty to worry about. And, of course there are things that don't make sense when you really think about it, just as there were for the previous movies, but it was still very enjoyable. A step down from Dark of the Moon in quality, but we still get very decent action scenes and it's otherwise entertaining. I would recommend it.

Worthy of Your Time
In every Transformer movie there are a multitude of things to like and dislike. However, those who give this movie a poor review are looking at it solely from a very narrow perspective. There are some very subtle hints at several iconic memes. The Messiah theme surfaces several times in various scenes and most prominently at the end of the movie's last closing scenes. All through the movie there are sprinklings of iconic memes which deal with classic qualities of the ancient concept of honor, courage and selfless sacrifice for the benefit of other before self; something that is sadly lacking in the majority of films today. The other thing about this movie versus previous Transformer movies is that you could see much more of the Autobot fight scenes than in previous movies from this franchise as opposed to nothing but a bunch of blurred metal with a voice. Well done to the director and techs for this pleasant change. As far as the length, something that is totally subject, if you have troubling focusing more than an hour to an hour and a half you might find this film challenging. My approach to an extra long film is to watch half one day and the following day finish the other half. The acting was solid so no complaints there. However, the best part of this film is the fact that every other word wasn't profanity or swearing; family friendly and easy on the ears. There simply is nothing artful about a script that has a string of profanity in what seems to be the prominent part of the dialogue. If you are a sci-fi buff or you are entertained by robot themed works, this is a film you should see.

Non stop action with comedy
It is really hard to justify 4 stars for this movie, but it really is all non stop action, and it seems some of the characters don’t take it seriously. Who knew Stanley Tucci was such a comedian. And Tess who never got her lipstick smeared. There are a lot of sly jokes thrown in which some may miss, but elevates the movie. It is too long and too much in the way of explosions, but that is to be expected, as the demographic that the movie appeals to would want that and more. The special effects are really the whole movie. Plot is mundane. And the CGI is done very well and even inventive.

Good Action
Warning: SpoilersWhat I enjoyed about this movie is the action sequences. They have been exciting and fun to watch in all of the movies. It's giant robots fighting in HD, so it's hard to go wrong there. However, there are several things that could be improved upon. The first is what spoiled the movie for me the most, which is the unoriginal story. Why does there always have to be a damsel in distress in every transformers movie? Why is she constantly getting rescued, only to play a pivotal role in the very end where the good guys wouldn't win if she wasn't there? All four movies have been the same in this regard, there's a hot girl that likes the nerd, she is getting in trouble a lot but she has this independent attitude where she's going to do what she wants, and in the end she has a eureka moment that ends up saving the Earth. I'm tired of seeing this four times in a row now.Furthermore, I'm not very excited to see a cheesy, stereotypical love story in a movie about giant robots. Almost every romance in a movie has the same nuances (e.g., James Bond), and I'm tired of it. I'm sure the majority of the people that watch these movies get some subtle enjoyment out of watching the good guy get the girl, but I don't. I paid to watch giant robots fight each other, not to see a melodramatic romantic comedy embedded in every scene. I'm guessing that there has been a new female actress in every movie because they ask for twice as much as what they got last time, and they don't care so they just hire someone else.Third, while watching the Transformers movies I have always sat there wondering why they bother giving humans leading roles. Transformers should be about the transformers, they should be the main characters. They try so hard to give the humans any level of significance that it ends up being annoying. Having Marky Mark fend off Lockdown at the end with a sword-that-is-also-a-gun really made me want to stop watching. Lockdown goes around the Universe for centuries capturing the most wanted transformers, he nearly kills Optimus multiple times, and this human is actually winning a fight with him. Give me a break, I don't believe it. They did this in the other 3 movies too, somehow the main character is able to fight off transformers while everyone else is getting picked off left and right (except for the main character's friends, they are impossible to kill too).Fourth, they really seem to have stopped trying in some of the action sequences. In the scene where the ship they were flying in was shot down, it smashes into the Earth into a giant fireball and tumbles into multiple buildings, and at the end of it all the humans step out of the open cockpit just fine. How were they not killed in the collision? Or the giant fireball? And why were they not thrown from the open cockpit? It's like they said who cares, let's have a big crash scene right here.Fifth, I was really bothered by the blatant advertising throughout the movie. In one scene they crash into a Bud Light truck, and all of the bottles fly all over the ground. No bottles are smashed or anything, they must have not cared enough to make this part realistic. They end up panning over the bud light bottles for what feels like 5 seconds. For 5 seconds in this movie I'm staring at Bud Light bottles, and they thought this wouldn't be noticeable? Maybe they were forced to add it and they made the scene really crappy on purpose to spite their bosses? And at the end of the scene the hero pops one open and drinks it casually before throwing it on the ground. I wonder how much they paid for that scene. There also seems to be some Asian milk product in a juice box being advertised. I recognize it from the third movie--the milk the guy that gets pushed through a window was drinking. Well, they take 5 more seconds to show the inventor casually sitting in a chair drinking from the same juice box, literally nothing else is happening in the scene. They must be paying a lot for that cameo. My dream is to have a Transformers movie where there are no humans involved, at least not in anything more than a supporting role. I want to see transformers, I don't want to see terrible acting ruining every movie. I want to learn about the background of the transformers, I don't want a new story conjured up about the humans that is explained in depth in every single movie. Skip the boring first hour of the movie where they introduce the humans and replace it with us learning about the transformers. They just introduce these new transformers in every movie and we don't even learn their names! Why can't their personalities be explored? Why can't we get to know them on the same level as the human main characters? It is a missed opportunity. And if they do make the transformers the main characters, _please_ don't add in a transformer damsel and a love story to go along with it.So I give it 3/5, and I hope they try harder next time.

A Change for the Worse
I really enjoyed the first few movies for what they were - fairly brainless switch your-mind-off bonanzas of lots of special effects with big robots fighting and destroying even bigger set pieces in the process. They were also good fun films with plenty of funny moments thrown in (absolutely loved the parents in those films!) and a likable cast who you could invest in a little - enough for you to enjoy more than just the CGI.This one just stick with the robots, makes everything bigger, everything brighter and everything last longer. But everything seems lost in this one and I really didn't enjoy the new cast at all and it just felt like a drag interspersed with occasionally semi-decent battle scenes. The parts that irked a little in the first movies, such as terrible dialogue and silly plot holes, irk a LOT in this offering and it feels like Transformers has lost its sparkle a bit. I'm hoping they reboot again as could happily take or leave any future films that follow this same set-up.

Improvement over the last film but could be a bit shorter ★ spoilers ★
First things first, they finally god rid of Shia LeBoef (spelling?) And his family as I found they were starting to get annoying and the main focus seemed tobe on them. Mark Walberg is pretty decent in this film, however they've done the usual Hollywood thing by having him trying to fix his relationship with his daughter, why do they always seem to have single parents with estranged kids, or is it just me. They could have done with out this in my opinion and focused more on the overall story and Transformers. My only real gripe with the film is that it is really long and drags on, cutting a lot of gumpf could maybe have made this a 4 star (maybe). Also I was slightly confused over who was the main protagonist as they feature Galvatron and a new bounty hunter (I've forgotten his name). Also Galvatron is shown to be an advanced transformer created by humans which doesn't make sense, how can an advanced race of machines be improved by less advanced humans who reverse engineer Megatron's head???? Also Galvatron and these new transformers seem almost unstoppable when 1st encounter but are beaten quite easily later on by the Autobots, and where are the Decipticons in all this?Overall it is still an enjoyable film with some issues, they have set up a sequel and if they do make it I hope Michael Bay finally addresses the issues people have with the Transformer films, afterall the 1st one was really good.

Hmmm.....??
Ok, my 11 year old son loved it - Transformer dinosaurs - awesome!I struggled tbh, particularly after watching T3 - DSOTM. Ok none of them are ever going to win an Oscar, but for sheer action and fun (transforming robot trucks and super cars - come on that's cool!) the first three are great. This however you could easily see that they wanted to reboot the series, but the story struggles. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work out. Mark Wahlberg is left thinking "Am I really doing this?" quite a lot. I struggled with Frazier as the main villain, but I did like Stanley Tucci. It just seemed a bit of a mishmash.I hope 5 has a better story.

Way too long, dull and only worth buying if you can get a bargin
This starts quite well - feeds in the back story from the last 3 movies. Nice idea with the inventor finding Optimus Prime and then accidentally fixing him, but it then steadily goes down hill after that. For starters its ridiculously too long - we have not just one or two "head to heads" with Optimus and the chief baddy but three/four. By the end you give up caring because you know that Optimus will win anyway. The product placement is so obvious to beggar belief and actually detracts from the movie. The dinobots play a minor part right at the end of the movie and why they are their isn't properly explained.I think this franchise has run its course - time to look else where

He's big and he's blue, and he has some new friends...
Present for a transformers junkie. We had already been forced to watch at the movies, and the video has already been watched twice over the chirstmas break - so I guess the recipient was very happy with it.Preferred to take the DVD rather than blue ray, to be compatible with small screen car screens/players - where such videos are a god send to entertain the backseat rabble - when shown on a big screen the upscaling of the players these days does a very good job at improving the rendering in anycase. As for the movie itself - it is a little longer and more in depth than the others, and there is a considerable change in lead characters - not a bad thing in my opinion (in this case) - but it is what it is - a movie about a few kids toys that have been upscaled and have deep voices...lots of action and explosions....just what the recipient wanted.
