This is a fabulous mouse that accomplishes many goals
If your goal is to relieve arm pressure and aches (personally my primary goal), the Gyration Air Elite handles that the best of any mouse I've tried. Most devices, even ones that allow you not to have your wrist in the "normal" flat position, still require that your arm be in the usual position with hand close to the desk. Air products allow your arm to be anywhere you want and that really helps me because I'm starting to feel shoulder and arm tension - NOT just wrist. Thankfully for me it has not progressed beyond that and with this air mouse I don't feel any aches anymore. The secondary goal (for me) is presentation on a big screen or even at my desk. Obviously air devices excel at this and the Air Mouse Elite works fine for me. For any of the negative reviews I'd guess the answer is just that you need to give it a couple more minutes of getting used to. The default out-of-the-box settings are perfectly natural to me. If after a day of use they're still not working for you, there are customization options using the software. And of course the third goal is just to show off, which this accomplishes quite well. "How are you moving your cursor while sitting back??":-)

Poor longevity
This product is ALMOST perfect for HTPC use and so far has no rival. The ease of use ( when it is new ) is perfect for controlling a computer in your living room for web crawling or watching videos. It has a trigger on the bottom side that you operate with your finger and the cursor only moves when the trigger is pulled. It takes no time to learn this and soon you will do it intuitively with no thought at all.At first it would seem the trigger would complicate matters and is not needed until you actually put the mouse to work. You will find that trying to hold the cursor steady on your screen while you press the Left or Right mouse button is futile and annoying unless you release the trigger and it is the biggest advantage of the Gyration family over the other "Air" mouse styles.Another notable feature is the battery life between charges. It is truly phenomenal at a seemingly impossible 3 to 4 weeks. Now the bad news. The earliest Air Mouse versions ( before the "Elite" ) functioned as described above but somehow the engineers were persuaded to allow users to turn off the trigger function and make the cursor float continuously with no triggering necessary. Thus the Elite could operate the same as the other brands if the user wished. Problem is, this new functionality is "turned on" by double clicking the trigger switch and has made a mess of things with this otherwise perfect product. You wind up constantly having to double click in order to "cancel" the double click you accidentally enabled during normal activity and the cursor is constantly flying about unintended. This Mode Switching capability should have been implemented in a different way maybe with its own discrete button on the base. Now let me tell you what happens when the Elite get a little worn owing to normal use.As you subject the Elite to normal use, the internal switches begin to break down and become erratic to the point where it is always switching "Triggered" mode on and off which raises the frustration level to new heights and makes the unit worthless. On top of that, the roller wheel seems to wear at about the same rate and soon the screen is jumping up and down uncontrollably as you scroll web pages, yet again raising the frustration level. At my usage level, I need to buy one of these every year or two and I have about 5 of them that all suffered the same failures and I am certain to buy more of them if I can because there is still nothing better. All I can do is plead for them to build it using better components so that I can get decent life out of them, and they need to figure out a better way to switch the Trigger modes and hopefully the world will discover this little jewel and keep it in production. It may be that it is too late though as I see that it is shown as "Not Available" when searching the common sellers. I hope this is only temporary though as it would be truly a shame to lose it.

Durable but extremely finicky
Mouse had to be returned. Even the tech couldn’t get it to work properly just a matter of feet away.

Great mouse with many great features!
This is a great mouse. Very responsive and not only works like a normal cordless mouse. It works in the air! Click the button on the bottom of the mouse and hold it to allow the mouse to be controlled by simply moving your wrist up, down, left or right. One drawback is if you are transporting it in a backpack there is no of switch. That being said, you need to be aware of where you place it in the bag so the notes buttons are not being pressed. If they are it will be operating in the back and losing power.Great mouse!

I wouldn't buy anything from gyration again.
So I had seen my friends using his gyration for doing presentations etc. He has a much older model. I've borrowed and used it for my own presentations, so I know how an air mouse works, and am comfortable with it.But this thing is garbage. It's construction feels flimsy. It uses a proprietary battery, that can't be replaced. If you want to use it for a laptop on the go, it's about the worst option possible for a road warrior. A single proprietary battery, and I can't find a replacement out there. Second, it REQUIRES the cradle to charge, and finally there is no built in storage for the dongle. So this is about the least travel friendly mouse I've ever owned. Oh and it's big, but I was already expecting that.Second, I've had it for one day - it's going back tomorrow - and it has "frozen up the mouse" on two separate computers running different versions of windows. Both my work and my home pc got hosed and I had to hold both ctrl, alts, and shifts to reset the mouse to get it to work again. Finally, the motiontools software is very buggy. It's already stopped working properly and won't let me change the gestures. Also the presentation items do NOT work with powerpoint viewer, only powerpoint. That matters to me.And if you make the mistake of buying one of their products, I wouldn't waste time waiting for tech support. The website itself has very little useful information and the product manual has even less. I tried calling and after telling me I could leave a message or stay on the line, it eventually hung up on me. Then calling the number for a faster response puts me on hold for two minutes before transfering me to VOICEMAIL. Talk about adding insult to injury. I just tried calling both tech support and sales again with the same hang up on me, then put me on hold for voicemail. It's when I decided I'm definitely returning this and never buying anything else from gyration. So an expensive mouse that is not very well made, backed by badly written software

Good
If you like gyration mice, this one works well, rechargeable saves a lot of batteries. If you don't like gyration mice, this one won't thrill you any more than the others do.

Too Small and Programabale Buttons Could Not Be Programmed
I did a bit of research before buying this and that was one of the problems that others were having and that was people with large hands would have difficulty using this. With me, my fingers are too long, I found it very difficult to use this with one hand because of this, I had to use my other hand to change the position in my right hand to operate it. I found the instructions to be very poor, I could not find any clear instructions to program the buttons or at least tell me how to do this correctly. While I have no doubt that I would have figured this out eventually, either by my self or contacting customer service, I wasn't willing to spend the exorbitant amount of time to do this for such an expensive product. The most disappointing thing about the mouse is the "air feature", it was way too touchy, if I didn't hold the mouse perfectly still while clicking on an Icon, it didn't work. I found it very difficult to hold the thing in mid air and click on an icon and sometimes it would move a fraction and open the icon next to it. My regular Bluetooth mouse and media pad work better. This was supposed to work on my big screen with projector and it failed miserably.
