Size:2 Liter  |  Color:Kentucky Bourbon These are actually new white American charred oak barrels that have been pre-cured with Whiskey, Bourbon or Scotch. You can choose either 1, 2 or 3 liter size. that’s right. There is a cup (or more) of fresh Bourbon, Rum, Tequila or Scotch already soaked in to the wood of these barrels. Now you can start aging your new batch in an authentic flavor infused barrel. NOTE – You will need to fill the barrel with your alcohol as soon as you receive it so it doesn’t dry out. Once an infused barrel dries out it may not seal up again. Each infused barrel comes with a stand, bung and spigot. Why would anyone want to purchase Bourbon, Rum, Tequila or Scotch Flavor Infused Barrels? The barrel is already cured and ready to use. Just pour your liquor in and start aging. If you want to age your own whiskey now you don’t have to worry about the barrel soaking up your liquor during the curing stage. (higher drinking yield) The small barrel size provides a greater surface area to volume ratio (more wood in contact with liquid) which results in increased extraction. If you are making a bootleg batch of whiskey using our essence (bootleg) it tastes better when you can age it in a used whiskey barrel since it will pull the flavors in from the wood. You may want to age something else in your used whiskey barrel. Have you ever tasted tequila, rum or scotch aged in a used whiskey barrel? If not then you don’t know what you are missing. A lot of homebrewers are looking for used whiskey barrels so they can age their beer in them nowadays. You don’t have to purchase two different liquors – one to cure and flavor the barrel and one to age. The barrel will come pre-flavored. Barrel does not contain alcohol.

No, do not like it.
The barrel is not good. I had another one before that that was bad as well. The factory used glue to put it together and the spirits I put in it tasted like turpentine or worse. The one I have now the spigot does not dispense the product unless I use a wire to unclog it and then only a few drops come out. I tried to remove the spigot but it seems to be glued in as well. I noticed that the barrel is varnished on the out side which I did not remember ordering because the wood needs to breath. No, not a happy camper with this or the first one. I can make the oak flavor better just by putting shared oak chips in it and letting it set.

Ruins your spirit
This spirits I put in these barrels were ruined by whatever was already inside. At first, the empty barrels smelled like sweet bourbon (with a little bourbon actually still left inside) but after a a couple of weeks of aging a perfectly good white spirit in the same barrels, a gross odor was apparent. It smells like chemical adhesive or turpentine mixed with good booze. So, whatever they do to make these barrels (glue, adhesive, varnish or whatever) it will ruin your spirit no matter how much they "pre-cure" with bourbon. Don't waste your money or ruin your spirits with these barrels.
