Very nice, and affordable SATA hot-swap rack.
Nice rack! LOL! Seriously though, this product seems well made and reasonably priced. The plastic parts are sturdy, and the fit and finish is better than I expected for the price. Drives slide in and out of the rack easily, but seem firmly held in place when the door is closed.Power to the drive is cut as the door is opened. The door locks are optional, you don't need to lock the door to use the device (most older racks for IDE drives would not power up unless the trays were locked). Some people have expressed concern about this, fearing that it may allow for movement of the drive while it's still spinning. That should not be a problem as long as you aren't over zealous when removing the drive. Just pop the door latch and wait a few seconds for spin down and park. The drive does not get pushed out of the rack until you swing the door open.It has a blue LED to indicate power, and an orange LED for activity. I prefer this to the common trend of using a single LED that just flickers to indicate activity. Separate colors are a much clearer indication. There are no fans, so it's silent, but the open design allows for plenty of air flow around the drive. As long as you have some case fans moving air through your system drive temps should be fine. The rear of the rack does, in fact have SATA data & power connectors, but then it uses a SATA to Legacy power adapter to power the drive and the rack (with a little power plug that taps off of the adapter). Personally I found this a plus since I was using these to build a server out of an old case/PSU that had no SATA power plugs. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that Kingwin has a virtually identical product for less (except in all black). So why didn't I order the Kingwin? I tried, but for some stupid reason Amazon will not ship the KingWin to Hawaii (lame Amazon, very lame).

Good Hard Drive Rack for bare drives
This is a good rack for a removable 3.5" hard drive. It's very easy to plug a bare hard drive into it. The only problem I have with it is when it is screwed into the 5-1/4" drive bay, it is not quite level, leaving an uneven "slot" between it and the bays above and below it. I have used these HD racks for several years, and while I only change hard drives a couple times a month, I haven't had any problems with them.

FreeNAS HDD Housing, up and running 24/7
If you discount the cost of running a file server 24/7, using these to build a FreeNAS server out of an old computer was a great fit for the two 2 TB sata hdd's I installed. If memory serves me correct, they are well made, the latches/locks are enough to keep the doors from accidently being opened. There are two moderately bright lights on these racks that light up when the drive is powered on. Blue is power, orange is for activity.

Does the job well
I have the dual rack with the USB 3.0 ports and I love it, but on my secondary machine I did not want to spend that money and already had USB 3.0 in front, so I just wanted the convenience of a quick drive access. this is it. well made and works like a charm. I can add a drive to copy files, do DATA recovery or anything else without rebooting or removing side panels.

does the job
Was worried the metal would be too flimsy but it ended up being fine. Being able to unplug the lights was handy and have had no issues with 50+ drives.

Great way to provide additional storage to any desktop
Quick and easy installation.Four screws and two connectors and you can use a Hard drive like you would use a USB stick. Great addition to any desktop computer with an open bay.Uses the regular 4 pin power connector and has an adapter to power the hard drive activity lights on the front of the bay.Everything needed is in the box.I have three installed on one computer to hot swap hard drives for large format digital photography storage, very stable and useful.

Easy to install, easy to use, only one complaint.
This product was extremely easy to install and use, my only complaint with it is that it uses a legacy power adapter (4 pin molex) instead of the newer SATA connector.
