Great FM Transmitter
I've owned my share of these FM transmitters and this by far is the best one in terms of ease of use, flexibility, and actual performance. I should point out that I live in an area outside of major metropolitan centers. If you live in the city you may just want to get a stereo with a AUX or ipod jack. City areas usually have many radio stations using up available freq's.I'm a big fan of the flexible jack that allows me to position my ipod almost anyway I like. Its never been easier accessing the ipod while driving down the road and the flex jack helps in vehicles where the 12v jack is in odd places.I find the most of the modes aren't really needed but are a welcome addition if you need to tweak things. I also like how it turns itself on/off when you turn the key. Other units I've had sported a power switch so when you started the car you get an earful of static if the volume was turned up. Static issues and finding the right freq. are always an issue with these devices and this one is no different. I find myself having to change the station from time to time due to radio interference. if you're big on sound you should be looking at a hardwired jack for your existing stereo or getting a stereo that has one (I'm too cheap to do it).All in all I highly recommend this at a decent price I picked mine up here at amazon for roughly $20 (a great bargain). Feel free to ask questions in the comment section and I'll answer as best as possible.

The Best FM Transmitter of Several I've Used
I have had the unfortunate experience of being let down by several of these FM transmitters in the past. After buying this one, I can honestly say that, for the first time, I've actually found one that works easily and without static. I just went on nearly a 200-mile trip and never once even had to change the FM station because of static, thanks to this unit.Other than the great sound quality, I think the next greatest thing about this particular unit is that, once you plug it into the 12V power outlet, it becomes its own stand, thanks to the flexible neck. So, unlike other units I've tried in the past where you plug it in, then find a place to lay it in your car (often the drink holder, where it's in the way), this one is completely out of the way once you plug it in. Looks nice in the vehicle, too.One pretty neat feature about this unit that I think is going unmentioned is the 'audio out' jack built into the unit, on the plug near where you plug into your 12V car outlet. In other words, if you purchase a car in the future that has the "Aux In" jack where you can plug in your IPod to the car, this unit would still be useful to you: you can plug in a patch cord between this unit and your vehicle's "Aux In" jack, and still use this unit as base for the IPod. Plus it's still useful as a charger for the IPod, even if you wouldn't need the FM Transmitter functionality of the unit in that type of setup.Bottom line, the best designed, and best sounding, FM transmitter/IPod charger I've ever tried. Well worth the money.

I'm Pleased With This Transmitter Overall
I started researching FM transmitters shortly after purchasing my iPod Touch 3rd Generation. They are all a bit pricy, so I kept reading the reviews over and over. I was impressed by the review that mentioned changing the setting to EU rather than US. This is because there is less interference on the lower FM stations, 87-89, which I'm sure is true. The only problem is that my car stereo won't let me manually enter a station number! I'm only able to scan available stations, so I can't select 87 to 89! Bummer. I really need to say though, that the transmitter works fine on other stations, but there is a bit of static from time to time.I was thinking about returning the transmitter, when I found that my car stero has an auxiliary port...to the rescue! So I bought the proper cable (not included with the transmitter), plugged it in, and voila, it worked beautifully. Now my iPod Touch is being charged while I use it, and it is securely held in place by the firm adjustable arm. The arm could be a bit longer though, since the cigarette lighter ports in my car are in a recessed area, but with a little persistance I was able to get it adjusted correctly.Overall, I'd say this was a good purchase since it works beautifully with the auxiliary port, and if I'm ever in a car without the port it works acceptably there too.

Pretty Good
Bought this before a three week Christmas road trip, having bought a new iPhone because I hated my LG Vue (yuck) and my GPS was stolen out of my car (along with my last FM transmitter). This device works pretty well - I have had no problems with the connection to the charger being loose, as some have said. It's still tight, solid, no shaking or falling - and I drive a Subaru, not the smoothest suspension out there. There was some mention in other reviews about being able to set the device to "euro" settings to get 87 on the dial. Not way that I can find - and so, I found it difficult at times to find a good station, and we had to change fairly regularly. I don't know if there is a better device out there - I've had three now, and I'd say that this one is equal to or superior to any other. Sound is certainly a bit better. The 'neck' of this device is wonderfully short and stiff, making the phone unobtrusive and stable. I use it mainly as a charger in the city, as I don't tend to listen to music for town driving (NPR junkie.) I don't commute by car, so my drives tend to be relatively short. Device is great for charging, and as housing for GPS. Also, if your city is starting to ban windshield mounts (as mine is) you are in the clear. So, I have to take off a star because it is just frustrating to so often have to change station - but I think this problem is endemic to the issue of FM transmitters.
