Freud 63-100: 9/16" Depth Slotting Cutter Set

This slot cutting it worked very well, as one might expect of Freud bits. I used it to cut slots in 200 lf of garapa wood decking, which is a wood basically as hard as ipe. The bit worked flawlessly. NO burning, not tear out.

Worked and cut a clean slot in a quality pine board. It was a slot for my 1/4" Clear Acrylic panel to fit in.

I was nervous trying to use this on a 1/4 inch battery powered router to cut slots for laminate banding in plywood but it worked really well and I did not have any issues. I generally made two passes, the first about .25 inch into the wood and the next the full depth. I had to take it slow in spots where there were knots, but the blade cut well and evenly the entire way. It could be a tad more balanced when not cutting, but not too scary.

Needed to make a slot in the bottom of a new sliding barn door to accommodate the floor guide. I felt that using this bit along with my DeWalt 618 router and an offset base would be the safest way to accomplish this. Worked like a charm and the bit produced a smooth clean 1/4"x9/16" deep slot. Per the floor guide instructions, I was suppose to make a 3/4" deep slot. Got around this by slightly increasing the height of the door from the floor and it works great.I could not find any company that makes a 1/4"x3/4" deep slotting bit. It would be greatly appreciated if Freud could manufacture this type of bit so that all of us DYI barn door installers could have a safe method for producing the required door bottom slot.

Used the cutter to slice a grove in the bottom of a barn door for the floor guide. The door is pine and this bit cut like it was not there. I have a fairly strong Porter Cable router and with three solid carbide teeth, this cut smoothly and aggressively. I love it. Even for my casual use its worth the money. Great bit. Two things to note (not problems, just be aware) This is a 1/2" bit. my router has interchangeable collets, no issue for me. I did manage to get a couple of dings in the edge of the door because I had the shank too far into the collet and the locking nut was just sticking down when I adjusted for the depth from the door edge. I just should have paid attention, not a big deal but you could make a mess if you are not careful.

This is a unique size and will get the hun done. If they make it I’d find 1/2” shaft .The quality is not what you normally find from feud bits. It’s more like their economy line .This will do better than any other bit but if you want the best of the best keep looking, too bad you won’t find it on Amazon .

Worked perfectly and cut an MDF edge like butter. Very accurate and didn't wobble.

This is exactly what my husband wanted and the price was much better than what he saw in a brick and mortar. He's used it and says it works wonderfully and he's glad he bought it.
