RB2140 Original Wayfarer Polarized Square Sunglasses

I scored this thing for only $50 out of pocket! At Sunglass Hut it was $150! Hell No! Not when they're on Amazon and Prime eligible for only $92.95. I did some research and decided the 50mm non-polarized was right for me since I have a peanut head and already own another style of Ray Bans (the 3212s awesome too!) that are polarized. I used some points from my Amazon Visa card and BOOM only $50 out of pocket! I bought these for two reasons. One was I own another pair of Ray Bans and I was impressed with the quality and Two was I had a pair of Wayfarers when I was younger but one of my girlfriends stole them. DO NOT LET WOMEN BORROW YOUR RAY BANS- THEY STEAL THEM! Make them buy their own or buy them a pair if you are feeling rich that day. After I took them out of the box I thoroughly inspected them as the Wayfarer is the most counterfeited pair of sunglasses in the world. I checked for all the Hallmarks. Ray Ban Logo on both temples-check. Laser-etched RB on left lens-check. Ray Ban at top corner of right lens-check. All the proper writing on the inside of the ear pieces-check. 7 hinges where frames meet arms-check. The green glass was the right color and most importantly, I used a bright light to see through the arms and the metal rod running through each was where it was supposed to be. I set them on the table and they had the proper wayfarer slant. There is also a pronounced curve to the arms when the glasses are viewed from above. The verdict: Yes, sir! These are a genuine pair of Ray Ban Original Wayfarers! Sunglass Express did me right! I may actually get these made into prescription sunglasses later down the line because they fit great. Also I'd like to add that these glasses say "Hand Made in Italy" and are not made in China. Way to go, Ray Ban!

I was looking for some new sunglasses that would look a bit different to the ones I've been wearing, and well - this was one that came to mind. They have this retro look that is somehow still quite modern and contemporary - which makes this design timeless, I guess So I went down to a store and tried on a couple of Wayfarers, and yeah - they looked great. A very important note, to those who buy online without actually trying on the different sizes in real life: get the right size! The difference between the 50mm lens and the 54mm lens is SIGNIFICANT! I first tried on a pair, and thought to myself that these just won't work for me, as they were really too large for my face. Then I noticed that those were the 54mm lenses - and tried on a 50mm size, which fit perfectly The New Wayfarers (RB2132) are smaller, and look more modern, and, in my opinion, don't really look like Wayfarers. So unless you have a small face, and you don't want the slightly oversized fit you get with the classic Wayfarer, don't get the new design. If you have an average-sized face, the RB2140's in 50mm will give you the perfect fit - slightly larger than your average pair of sunglasses, with that timeless Wayfarer look. If you like the oversized look (many girls would go for this), get it in 54mm. If your face is larger than average, the 54mm would be the best bet But yeah - that's all I have to say about the look and fit. Quality-wise, it's excellent. The classic brown Ray Ban case, cleaning cloth, little brochure, and of course the awesome sunglasses: high quality frame and lens. Excellent I bought it directly from Amazon, not from a third-party, so I felt pretty assured that it was the original - but I cross-checked it with many Youtube videos that compare originals vs fakes, and that put me completely at ease! Amazon has the best price, so get it from here. They're fantastic glasses!

You can save your bug-eyed Oakley glasses. Keep your Armanis. The cool factor is and always will be residing in a good pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers. I purchased these as "fulfilled by Amazon" and they are the genuine thing. To verify: The lenses should be glass, not plastic. The frame material should have some heft to it, not el-cheapo injection molded plastic. The logos on each side should be screwed in, not glued (on the inside of the frame you should see the screwhole). On the inside of the left lens (not the lens with the painted Ray-Ban logo) near the far left edge you should see an etched R-B logo. The hinges should be screwed in. Looking at the glasses from the side there should be a pronounced angle between the earpieces and the lenses. And lastly, the code for this particular model (black 50 mm frame w/crystal green lenses) should read RB2140 901 50o22 3N. They fit, were shipped FAST, and make you 62.5% cooler than you otherwise would be. The crystal green lens tames the rays and had no distortion. Construction is solid and makes me look for reasons to go outside. All in all, this is the standard for a reason, and it remains so.

I love the the quality of Ray-Ban sunglasses. They fit perfectly, and are worth the price. I also like the styles which are available. I would suggest the 50 mm size for most people. Ray-Ban is a well established company and offers a high quality product in many great styles, I am completely happy with this purchase and would recommend them to anyone who is considering buying some new sunglasses. The lenses and frames are sturdy and fit comfortably and are a lot better than the lower priced brands. They will stand up to every day wear and look great. Just find a style you like, I have worn the same pair for more than fifteen years until they were broken in a car accident.

I like these glasses and they offer a GREAT classic style. My only issues: the lenses are sloped so that they come down at an angle and press on your cheek bones with a significant amount of weight; they are also not the best wayfarer style available. I'd recommend the 2132 new wayfarer or the clubmaster sunglasses instead, they look better and feel a lot better on the nose, face and cheek bones. The lenses are fantastic, but i recommend polarized lenses because they make reading screens and other things easier and they protect your eyes MUCH more. My suggestion is to try them on first elsewhere before buying them here. Maybe Nordstroms or Sunglass Hut? They're much more expensive there so dont buy them in-store. But at least try on the 2140 and 2132 styles and the different mm sizes (50, 55, 52, etc) to see the comparisons. Colors are also difficult to see well on Amazon, so check out some options while youre in the store!

So this is why people invest in expensive sunglasses... Having always been someone who just settles for a $10 pair of specs, it took a lot for me to pull the trigger on some $80 shades. Why spend an arm and a leg on a product that's easily available for a fraction of the cost? Immediately after pulling them out of the package I can feel the quality difference. The glasses are heavy and solid. The hinges are tight and the design is sleek. I've already gotten quite a few compliments. They are easily recognized as Ray-bans. The only real problem I had with the glasses was how tight they were initially. It's nothing uncomfortable, I'm just used to a more flimsy frame so I think it's going to take a slight adjustment at Lenscrafters to make them perfect. One of the most satisfying purchases I've made in quite a while. (Other) Just a side note, Amazon really showed why their customer support kicks ass. I never received the original item and they sent out a replacement immediately.

I received my new pair of Wayfarers about an hour ago from the time that I am writing this review. In that time I have been carefully examining them for authenticity. I am writing this review so quickly because I have had read the numerous reviews that state the product they received was counterfeit. I do not believe that these people are lying, it is very possible that they received the fake Wayfarers. I was anxious to express to anyone doubting this purchase that the pair I received from AMAZON are absolutely 100% genuine. I must stress that these came directly from Amazon not a third party. I believe the people who are receiving fake sunglasses are receiving them from one of these third parties. I have owned many pairs of these exact sunglasses and the pair I received are the real deal. They look/feel real and pass every test of genuine original Wayfarers. These tests include: 1. Silver Ray-Ban Cardboard Box with correct label with barcode 2. High quality leather case with genuine Luxottica gold foil stamping, Ray-Ban logo on button 3. "Icons" booklet and sealed manufactures note/cleaning cloth 4. Static-stick (not adhesive) shiny gold Ray-Ban lens sticker with "G-15 Lens" indication (or B-15 depending on model) 5. "Ray-Ban" brightly lasered (not painted) in upper left corner on left lens (if looking at the glasses, not wearing them) 6. "RB" etched into the glass on centered on right edge of right lens (if looking at the glasses, not wearing them). It can be etched on inside or outside of the lens depending on model/lot #) 7. Oversized metal hinges 8. Ray-Ban logos on temples attached to frames and hinges via metal rods (not glued) 9. Correct text on inner side of both sunglass arms 10. Metal support bars running the length of the arms inside the acetate (use a flashlight to pass light through arms on darker pairs to see these bars 11. And finally, the weight. You can tell just by holding them that they are made of acetate with glass lenses because they are heavier then a fake pair I am very sorry to those of you that received fake Wayfarers but I assure everyone else that I received a completely genuine pair. I hope this helps those of you on the fence make a decision (buy direct from Amazon!) and I hope the authenticity guide helps those of you unsure about the pair you already received to identify a counterfeit. Its easy to overlook these sunglasses nowadays but hey, there's a reason everyone has them! First off, I ordered these at 4 PM on Friday and they showed up at 11 AM Saturday morning! Amazon is awesome, if its available through Amazon I choose to order through Amazon for easier returns, etc. and still only $83 + $3 shipping upgrade! Way better than going into a sunglass store, but still Ray-Ban. On the glasses themselves: They do fit a little snug, perhaps its the size I ordered but they don't squeeze my head or bother me at all so I'm fine. They're heavy-weight, quality glasses. You can tell they're Ray-Ban and they're worth the money. Holding and wearing these makes you realize that cheap sunglasses don't always cut it, unless you're at the amusement park. Definitely worth the money! They suit most people and faces really well. The slant is noticeable but doesn't look bad. Love my Ray-Bans
