RX8 Perfect Coils!
The short:Perfect fit for the 2004 rx8 gt and the best price around. The longer:There's a lot of talk about which coils to get for the RX8, should you do factory, the BHR upgrade, AutoZone with a lifetime replacement? Amazon, eBay? Local dealer?Let me break it down and why I settled on these.First pretty much all the aftermarket resale's (not including the BHR) are the same. They are no better or worse than any others, they just word the specifications differently. So lets start with AutoZone / advance auto both sell them for 149 to 199 bucks a set (depending on the sale price) and they come with a life time warranty. Sounds great? Though you still have to obviously pull them your self to replace them if they go out but, you figure the car has about 120k average lifespan (Lets be honest our cars don't last long) and you will on average replace the coils as 30k 60k and 90k (or three times) Some don't ever replace the coils, or might only replace at 45k and 90k either way you MAY end up replacing them 2 to 3 times. So that means the Auto zone price you are paying for the first one, and warrantying yourself for a possible one or two replacements. Meaning take the average price of about 160 and divide it by 2 and they are 80 a piece or divide it by 3 and they are 50 a piece (Plus tax and a drive to the store each way and back each time). The BHRs are the same thing life time warranty with reports of a stronger ignition and better performance, by buddy has the BHR's and swears up and down about them (but I personally believe that is do to the fact that he spent OVER half a grand on them) and I can tell absolutely no difference in start up or running. Literally none. Maybe if you are actually racing your vehicle, but if this is something you just drive on the weekends or to school or work and back, why spend 550 bucks for the same end result? Well because you want something labeled performance? Don't get it so I skipped it.Then there's eBay for 40-50 bucks... but it comes from china so you have to wait 30 days... skip it..I'm not waiting a month. Then finally there is the ones on amazon which are $42 a piece so they are cheaper then AutoZone just outright and you don't have to hold on to a receipt or anything. And they ship fast and free, So this is in fact the best deal... well if they work right?Well, I can confirm these work perfectly and will be my replacements from here on out as long as I own the RX8 and amazon is selling them.Hope that helps!

Really happy with these although I've only put 100 miles on them so far. Regardless of how long they last, even if they last two weeks this was a cheap way of diagnosing the issue. I was down to two possibilities of clogged cat or ignition coils. Even if I have to spend $200 in 6 months on OEM coils this was definitely worth it for me. Car starts better and doesn't have dead spot under load at revs under 4k anymore. I would recommend these to anyone who haven't replaced their coils yet. The coils in my car before these ones went in where in the car for 55435 miles. Probably should have swapped them at 45k.

RX8 is suddenly a performance car
2006 RX-8. Replaced plugs, coils and wires with NFK Laser Iridium Racing spark plugs, NGK (4858) ZE81 Spark Plug Wire Set and IC023 UF501 N3H118100B9U 04-09 MAZDA RX-8 Set 4PCS Ignition Coil. Was having difficulty starting and very low power at low revs. Problem solved. I'd forgotten how well this car performs. Various videos on YouTube that show how to do it. During install be careful not to break the air inlet duct elbows as the hoses 'weld' on to them. You may need to replace the "Rx8 ignition coil bracket" as the posts that hold the coils can snap. Use WD-120. (ie wd-40 three times) Lots of good information at RX8Club.com.

it was the new coils that was bad. Not going to bother sending it back
its okay for what it is, but i noticed a slight decrease in acceleration when i put my foot down. i changed the spark plugs and leads with ngk so i know it wasnt their fault. i swapped back the old ignition coils and wouldnt you know, it was the new coils that was bad. Not going to bother sending it back. I'll still use em when the originals go bad.

Pleased with this aftermarket purchase
I decided to replace all four of my existing coils for my '04 RX8 6sp GT model when one failed. Pleased with this aftermarket purchase. When they fail (they all do) I won't be upset with the price tag. Would definitely buy again.

Work Just Like the Originals, Lasted Just as Long and Were Much Cheaper! What's Not to Like?
Got these a few times for the Worst Executed Car on the Market, the 2006 Mazda RX-8. They worked Just Like the Originals and Lasted Just as Long and Were "MUCH CHEAPER".

Meh.
Cheap. Just buy the AEM Smart Coils. You will need to make your own bracket and either re-wire up the new coils or buy adapters that will be expensive but worth it.

This is not a discounted set of coils. You ...
This is not a discounted set of coils. You get what you pay for with these. They won't last long on an RX-8 (maybe 10k miles)
