High quality melting dome
Pros: It's small, light, extremely well-built, and dishwasher safe. Most importantly, it lays flat when placed on a flat grill, unlike others on the market. The most popular use is for melting cheese on a burger: Once your burger is cooked, throw on a slice of your favorite cheese and cover it with the this melting dome for 20 to 30 seconds. The steam from the burger is trapped in the dome which makes the cheese melt faster. It can also be used to firm up eggs, stir fry, or for just keeping things warm off to the side while the rest of your meal is cooking.Cons: The handle gets hot if you leave it on the grill too long. It's a trade-off though as I prefer all-metal construction instead of having a separate wood or plastic-coated handle that would likely break over time anyway - just something to be aware of. Use tongs to pick it up. It's also on the small side. This one is about 9 inches in diameter, which is plenty big for one burger, but two big burgers is a squeeze. Nordic should consider making a larger version that's 12 or 14 inches in diameter as part of a matched set.

Works great
This is perfect for melting cheese on burgers. The only downside is that it only fits one large or two small burgers in it. Good for finishing off fried eggs. Can get hot quickly via conduction on a plate grill so use an oven mitt. Overall very pleased, no surprises here. Mine did get scratched in transit.

Gets the Job Done!
I purchased this dome lid to be able to steam veggies and melt cheese under and it does exactly what I want it to do! I just put some raw vegetables in a skillet and squirt a tiny amount of water to get the steam rolling and then place the lid over the top and in a short period of time I can make a quesadilla, burrito, or any other dish I want. I also use the dome for melting cheese onto my burgers and within seconds it gets the job done. The only complaint I have is, the handle gets very hot and can be hard to grip with an oven mitt, pot holder, or anything else. I would recommend to either put some type of heat resistant material around the handle or do what I do which is insert a wooden spoon through the opening of the handle and lift it using both sides of the spoon. Other than that one minor issue, the dome works perfectly with a 10-inch skillet and I have gotten a lot of great use out of it.I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves to cook and wants to be able to steam veggies, melt cheese onto their burgers, or any other use you might find for it.

Amazingly useful kitchen tool
I love this dome. LOVE. It's marketed as a "cheese melting dome," but I use this to do everything but melt cheese!During the summer in Houston, it's really too hot to operate the oven indoors, so when I want to prepare something hot, I use my stove.Prior to owning this dome, I had a hard time evenly cooking proteins (chicken breasts, pork, beef) on the stove. Even with a lovely sear on "high" and then the heat turned down to "low," I found the centers underdone, and the outside drying out. However, since I've had this dome, my meats have been turning out perfect and succulent - evenly cooked and still juicy - in half the time!I still sear the meat on "high," but before covering and turning down the heat (either to "low" or "medium low"), deglaze the pan with a liquid - I typically use a broth. This helps keep the meat moist while cooking. I've been able to cook a 2.5 lb pork tenderloin on the stove using this method, too! If any liquid is in the pan after the protein is cooked, you can use it as an au jus or further reduce it (without the dome) to make a thicker sauce or glaze. This tool is seriously such a godsend, especially during the summer, and it's significantly helped me step up my cooking game.

Love the handle on top
I've used metal bowls to cover burgers and grilled sandwiches to help the cheese melt and used tongs, pot holders, dish towels, wash cloths, whatever I could grab, and usually ended juggling hot bowls to keep from getting burned so when I saw this "cheese melting dome" that had a handle on top, I bought it. Nice price helped of course. I have used this dome on my barbeque, on my indoor electric grill and on my stove top griddle. It works well on all of them. It is so much easier to just use a pot holder or dish towel to lift the dome by the handle than using the old mixing bowl to cover your burger or sandwich. I love my indoor grill because the weather where I live is "damp" and I love chicken wings. I discovered that this dome is very helpful in speeding up the cooking time on the wing sections, once I've grilled all sides and the wings are nicely grill marked, I cover them with this dome and turn the heat down a notch and the wings cook much faster without burning. If you cook for a lot of people you might want to buy more than one. 2 burger patties fit under this dome if they are close together, a large size sandwich fits, and 12 chicken wing sections will fit if you snuggle them close together after grilling. Hope this helps you decide.

Never knew how handy this would be
Got this, because I'm tired of burning fingers on bowls or lids, and of discoloring nice metal bowls when I used them for this purpose. Frankly, given the cost - I'm a bit embarrassed to have wasted so much time and effort making other things work- when this tool works perfectly, is durable, and so cost effective.Want a perfectly melted cheeseburger, without over-cooking he hamburger? Put the cheese on the burger, cover for 2 minutes and the cheese is nicely melted. Like eggs done over-hard, without being dried out? Want an open face toasted cheese sandwich? The more you use it, the more you will keep this close at hand.Think my NEXT one will be the Stainless steel variety. Yes, they cost more, but that's my preference.

Well sized for my needs
Arrived with a crease in it and a flat spot on the rim from being smashed. It will still do what it’s supposed to do but a little disappointed that a damaged one was shipped.
