You can see how these classic works have influenced Rothfuss and Ghibli and a thousand other fantasy works.Not as easy to recommend as Rowling or Sanderson, it's not one of those series with a fast pace, a meticulous build-up to a breathtaking conclusion, carefully constructed plots with shocking-but-perfect twists, etc.But plenty of good prose, original ideas, wisdom, atypical heroes, very real characters, and important themes.Recommended for fans of Robin Hobb, Barbara Hambly, Diana Wynn Jones.

Only Tolkein writes better. Such crystal clear language which enters our hearts like a key in a lock. Ursula: You will live on in your stories forever. I miss you already.

I was looking for a collector's edition of this amazing series and was drawn to the beautiful illustrations. I love the illustrations, don't get me wrong. But the binding is low quality and stiff. The book does not spread apart to make it easy to read. The pages are printed with very little margin, so the lines are long and difficult to scan. I wish I had not purchased this.

Ancak daha şık ve büyük, aynı zamanda iplik dikiş baskılı bir edisyon arıyorsanız aynı isimdeki Sage Press edisyonuna da bakabilirsiniz tabii.

Amei essa série. Os 1os três livros são aventuras magicas, com um olhar mais profundo do que eu já havia visto antes. Excelente. Os últimos três, à medida que a autora se tornou mais velha e sabia, começam a explorar outros aspectos de um mundo fantástico e são dramas muito bem escritos. Se você ler esperando o que encontrou no 1o livro em todos os outros, não vai encontrar. Mas é lindo ver o que cada um deles tem a oferecer.

Nice, hard binding with stamped gold foil lettering.Unfortunately the spine is completely flat and most definitely glued - not sown. Same construction as in a mass paperback - except this book is huge and heavy. The stress on the glued spine is therefore much greater than most small paperbacks.It looks nice on the shelf but I'm not sure if it will survive a single reading intact.Time will tell but this spine will certainly fall apart eventually.So not the best choice if you want a heirloom or gift book - but if you just want to read the entire Earthsea saga in one place - with beautiful illustrations to boot (both in color and black & white) - then this edition definitely delivers.

I read the first three books as a pre-teen, not too many years after they were first written and again several times in my youth. For some unknown reason, the stories came back to my mind recently and, finding them as ebooks, to my delight I discovered that so much more had been written. As an adult I appreciate the societal commentaries and understand the intricacies of the relationships much more fully than I did as an adolescent however, the stories themselves stand alone as pure entertainment and a wonderful example of the genre. Le Guin was one of the first fantasy authors I ever read and will always hold my standards high.
