Felt like I was reading the Harry Potter movies
Let me start by saying that the Percy Jackson series’ (both olympians and heroes of Olympus) are probably my favorite book series of all time. I’ve reread them countless times and gift them to anyone I know who is an avid reader.I was so excited for the graphic novels. And especially since this is book 4/5 it means we may actually get the complete set of this in graphic novel form. That being said... it’s a very watered down version of The Battle of the Labyrinth. Key plot points are skipped over or barely referenced. The one that grated me the most was the Calypso arc. It was very emotional for Percy to leave there and the bond the two of them developed was beautiful. Also, it plays a VERY important part in the heroes of Olympus series, so it may bite the publisher in the bud to have made that cut. It’s an enjoyable read, especially for a person who prefers graphic novels to print (no shame in that).

This book is the comic version (oops)
My son sent me a picture of the cover of this book, asking me to buy it for his reading project at school. I made the mistake of not reading the listing thoroughly. This is the comic version. Whoops. Hopefully this review will help someone else who, like me, needs a vacation. I’ll be exchanging for the correct version.

Better illustrations!
I very much enjoyed this artwork more than the previous three books. More is left out but still true to the essence of the story.

Strip cartoons, NOT narrative!
My fault I guess, because this is advertised as a Graphic Novel. Being of an older generation, and knowing my young grandson's devotion to the Percy Jackson novels, I ordered this as a gift for him, expecting a prose narrative with some illustrations. Clearly I am not up to date with modern terminology. So other potential buyers, perhaps particularly grandparents, beware! Make sure you know what you'll be getting. For what it is, I can't fault the quality of production, but for a 10 year old who reads well and enjoys immersing himself in a book and allowing his imagination to create the pictures, this is a disappointment.
