Amazing Book!
I am incredibly pleased with the level of detail and quality this book has. All the design considerations explained and the real world application cases makes the learning quite useful. I am looking forward for newer editions of the book when the Directed Energy Deposition and Sheet Lamination chapters are added.

Must have book for the all-rounders and starters in 3D Printing
The first thing you will notice is that the book is beautifully crafted (including that nice new book smell). It uses clear typography and overall the balance between text and pictures is well thought of. The book consists of 3 sections:- The first section explains the full spectrum of 3D printing. Most people will be familiar with FDM (or the book calls it FFF), however other 3D Printing technologies such as SLA, DLP, etc. are covered equally.- The second section provides more details on what you need to consider in the design phase; again laid out for each 3D Printing technology. Understanding the various limitations and possibilities is crucial when you use a particular technology.- The third part presents for each 3D Printing technology possible applications, again for each of the various 3D Printing technologies.Personally, the first section gave me more insight in all the available 3D Printing technologies and was very educational. Most useful to me was actually the second section, as it provided specific guidance in creating 3D models and how that will affect the outcome. All in all, this is a great book to have and is a great addition to your library; for both seasoned engineers and people that want to get started with 3D Printing.

Should you buy it? Well it depends.
Like others have said, if you are a beginner hoping to learn the basics of 3D printing then this book will be great for you. It covers a broad range of topics that are applicable to specific 3D printing technologies. So on that end, it's a great book and I would give it 5 stars. However, if you are like me and using 3D printing everyday and have been for years, this book will likely not be that helpful to you. I was expecting a more detailed book that really got into the weeds of 3D printing - acceleration speeds, microstepping, back-pressure issues, retraction settings, dual extrusion, direct drive vs. bowden setups, flow rates, etc. I just simply misunderstood the purpose of the book when I bought it. So as for a technical textbook I would only give it 3 stars. So should you buy it? Well it depends. If you're looking to learn about 3D printing and various applications and nothing more, then yes - by all means. But if you REALLY want to learn about 3D printing, skip the book, save up and buy an actual 3D printer. Getting your hands dirty with a cheap, open-source 3D printer is by far the best way to really learn the depths of 3D printing. Note: there will be times where you'll want to bang your head against the wall, but it's worth it.

Very practical. The best reference book on 3D prining available, hands down.
I have bought most all of the books on the subject, I teach 3D printing and design for AM at a local college and this will be our reference book going forward. The technologies are all current (including several products that are just coming on the market now like the Formlabs SLS machine and Desktop Metal machine.) There are great examples of real, disruptive industry applications for each technology. The decision making guidance is practical and helpful for potential buyers. But the best part is the design guidance for each technology. This will really help push users to successful designs and parts with less trial-and-error. Thanks to 3D Hubs for putting together such a great reference book from solid experts. (And thanks for sharing Marvin, Mr. Schoffer.)

Not really a handbook, but still a beautifully and well designed book.
It's not really a go to handbook to find technical details about different techniques in 3D printing. It's more of a list of summaries of different types/styles of printing and general/brief overviews on some basics things to consider when using a certain printing style. Besides this, this book's design and conveying of the information it intends to convey is done beautifully. I just have a problem with the title including the term handbook.

Great bolk
Great book, but it is geared more for engineers. Still, if you are getting into 3D printing and want to learn as much as you can and just nerd out on the subject highly recommend it

The definititve 3D printing guide
I love this book! I used it to study for my SkillsUSA competition and it helped me bring home gold. I recommend this to my students who love it because of the great graphics and concise explanations. Anyone interested in 3D printing (experienced or inexperienced) should look no further!

Excellent resource, might not be what you think.
This is a superb comprehensive guide on 3D printing, not an on-boarding book for beginners. It is written with cohesive understanding of the entire 3D printing landscape, thus it functions as a manual providing surface to semi-advanced information on all 3D printing technologies, including lesser-known types. The only downside of this is: to most people familiar with 3D printing (makers who mostly deal with FDM), 70% of the book might be irrelevant, because it discusses industrial 3D printing processes not accessible at this time.If you need an all-in-one guide on 3D printing as a whole, this is an invaluable resource. If you want a guide to FDM printing and its applications, there might be publications more dedicated to FDM exclusively.

3D Printing Handbook
This is an essential book for those who are new to 3D Printing and is one of those that provides all you need to know what to do, use and create the best prints from your printer. I cannot say enough about this book, but if you are starting a 3D printer or intending to buy a 3D Printer, this is a must-read.

A Great Full Overview of 3D Technologies
I came for the FFF information, but appreciate the guides and wealth of knowledge of current and emerging 3D printing technologies. It has already helped my printing and is a great handbook that I will pull out from time to time during prints. With the 3D Hubs connection a ton of industry knowledge and techniques are outlined in detail in a very organized format. There is also room at the back to take personal notes for your own printing - making it your own personal handbook. Really wanted to finish the whole thing before writing it up. Industry examples and example photograph are stunning.
