I got this primarily for cutting rutabagas. They're my favorite vegetable (like potatoes, only tastier, and low-carb). They're huge and incredibly dense and I can't cut through them (I'm not very strong, or well-coordinated either, for that matter)- and rutabagas take forever to cook whole. I investigated various options, e.g., cleavers and knives with one handle or two, read a zillion reviews.I decided this knife was exactly the right size (with handles close enough together to exert maximum force from above- reviews indicated that longer knives with handles farther apart were not suitable for exerting significant force). They were right, I could easily halve, then quarter, and chop away, putting my whole body into it. Hooray! The knife doubles as a cleaver. It is well-engineered, made in Germany from high-carbon steel- heavy, with some real heft to it, not flimsy. No flex in the blade whatsoever. It is VERY sharp, and also a thing of beauty. And for slicing pizza, it does a great job- for pizzas larger than 12" you simply cut twice. The company, Hubert, was founded in 1946 and is known worldwide for its quality and integrity.Unlike many two handled knives and pizza cutters, the offset handles allow room for your knuckles to clear the surface you're cutting on. And, you can rock the blade, if that is your wont. The top of the handles are approximately 3/4" wide, fitting flat against your palms, wide enough to exert great force comfortably. Very precise, sure and balanced- you have complete control. I wish I'd found this years ago. I haven't cut through bones yet, but it's clear this knife will handle them with aplomb. (Update: not so. Tackled chicken bones- not larger ones. Handled other butchering and thick meat wonderfully well but not bones thicker than 3/4" or so.)You'll need a heavy-duty cutting board. Finally, I contacted Hubert about shipping options and they were gracious and helpful (yes, could ship FedEx). For me, this knife offers great versatility, many uses and options (cheese, soap, meat, veggies, pizza) in a single marvelous implement. Such a beauty, with such precision. Highest recommendation- worth very penny!

Love the knife. Cuts through frozen cookie dough perfectly. Makes my cutting time quick and easy.

Waste of money. Horrible quality.I bought this to cut sheet cakes and caramels more easily. Having two handles was great but I’m giving this such a low review because within a month (less than 5 washes) it had rust and the edge of the blade literally broke down and is so ragged it is just not able to be sharpened.
