The Darkness Tour '78 (Limited Edition on Purple Vinyl)

As a fan of Springsteen since the late 70's this album was my first experience of him, and when I first appreciated him live shows. Regrettably I missed the album's tour, but this is the next best thing, capturing a series of songs recorded on the tour into a composite tour song list ( which has inspired me to make up my own personal 'best of list' from the many classics that me made. Classic tour standards are there along with much of the Darkness album, and one or two from his later River album (not produced until 1981). Well produced CD which gives the energy of a Springsteen concert before the big Stadium gigs took over.( you have to forgive probably the worst version of Born to Run on any live recording I've heard, it sounds as the whole band are playing on different timing, Max's way too fast, and even Bruce sounds off)

This is actually a very good three-disc set, the sound quality is good (as good as can be expected) and it's interesting to listen back on how raw and unstructured some of the songs were back then - especially those that were destined for The River album. I would recommend this to all fans; buy it, play it in the car and take yourselves back 40yrs in the process...

Best cd I've ever bought! The version of backstreets is mind blowing! Absolutely phenomenal. I cannot recommend this cd enough. I will say don't be put off by the fact it's a live album as you cannot tell once the songs start.

Love the blue colour and the music legends magazine that came with it but -Record is SO warped! And sound quality poor.I have vinyls that are 35 + years old that I played constantly as a teenager and they are not warped and sound so much better than this vinyl.VERY disappointed. I won't attempt to play this record again.

A purple vinyl gimmick!! Sleeve very disappointing. Won’t buy again. Not the best sound quality.
