These really work!
We hang fly strips from the rafters in the barn, use fly predators throughout the season, use fly spray on the animals' legs, have stinky fly traps hung outside the paddock, and remove manure from the barn and paddock daily, but still had those biting flies that go for the ankles. Until we found these several years ago. Position it low, as described in the instructions. We slip it over a 4 foot metal stake set about 3 feet outside the paddock. We use two each season and it has greatly reduced the number of biting flies, horse flies, and deer flies available to attack animals and humans.

Best fly trap
Have used for years. Love it. Long lasting. Works great in South Texas even through the rain.Caution:Doesn't work in sandy areas. In the desert when the wind blows its filled with sand.

Works Great
These really help with the biting flies. Do your horse a favor and buy them. I do believe their over priced.

Works OK, but not great
Yes, it attracts flies and they stick to the trap. But the traps that have water/bait in them catch way more flies. This trap also catches beneficial insects (such as ladybugs) if they happen to fly or get blown into it. Also a bit flimsy: in a high wind, the clear part of the trap separated from the black plastic top. Not hard to put back together, but still I'll be going with the water/bait type of trap.

Works great but pricey for a throw away trap
OMG, this catches flies like crazy. We have horses and had lots of flies after a very wet spring, even after using fly predators. Many of them were the nasty biters as well. This is the only type of trap that attracts stable flies particularly. I put it out and came back 24 hours later. It was almost completely black, covered in dead flies. I love it, just wish it was a bit more economical. I have not found this to be reuseable, although I have read on some sites you can hose it off and reuse a few times. Couldn't get the flies off by hosing it off though, and it's too flimsy to withstand rough handling. However, for the one time use it's great. Just a bit too pricey.

and I must say I enjoyed the rising body count
This biting fly trap was a game changer in my barn this summer. The picture on the box does not do justice to the effectiveness of the design. The fly trap is designed to maximize the sticky surface area, so that you can catch more of those pesky biting flies. The slight sheen on the surface area also seems to attract flies, especially when the hanging trap catches light as it moves in a breeze. The flies approach the fly trap, and as soon as they make contact with the sticky surface, they're immobilized. I placed one fly trap over the area in the barn where I store muck buckets, and I must say I enjoyed the rising body count. Did I mention that the biting fly trap is cool to look at? The trap looks sort of like a futuristic high rise. A friend thinks it looks like a space ship. I have been so taken with this thing, I persuaded my local feed store to carry it. Just had to share the wealth with my neighbors.

DO NOT USE if you care about wildlife!!
I am horrified and so sad!! This product is not safe for wildlife! I purchased this trap to catch biting flies. My wooded backyard has been hit hard with deer flies and horse flies and I was hoping this product would give us relief. After 10 days of use, following manufacturers instructions, it caught a handful of tiny gnats, one large angry lizard (which I had to pull off and carefully clean up) one honey bee and A FEMALE CARDINAL! Ya'll, I'm so sad. I was hoping to regain our backyard to enjoy spending time with our ducks and chickens, and also the native nesting birds. And now I have injured a mother bird. This product should have a guard of some kind to prevent this from happening! I can't believe it was approved for use when it can cause real hard to native wildlife. PLEASE RECONSIDER THE DESIGN OF THIS PRODUCT! Look elsewhere to find bug relief.
